That's a lot. Do these keys have a remote transmitter built into them?
New keys without a remote transmitter should cost $25-$35. That would
include the key, duplicating it, and duplicating the anti-theft code
from your original key into the new key.
Do you have a breakdown of exactly what parts of the new key add up to
$65? Is this US$65 or CAN$65? Shoot, even CAN$65 translates to US$47,
which is still too much.
Try another dealer.

It is probably because they are laser cut.

Sounds as though keys have become a new profit center for the dealers.

Re: honda keys 2003
I was told that new keys for my 03 Accord would be about $200. They
have the transmitter built into the key. I don't need more than the
two provided with the car (plus a valet key). The salesperson was just
warning me to try not to lose or destroy one!

I stand corrected on this. There is no aftermarket key for the Accord, I
guess because the remote is built into it. There are aftermarket keys
for the Element, CRV, Civic and Odyssey.

Oh, you can get a Honda key without the remote built into it. No
problem. But it's a laser cut key, not able to be duplicated in the
traditional fashion. Probably the only source of key blanks is Honda,
which means Honda dealers.
