Idle Jumps Up and Down 92 Accord
 

It's only doing this when it's real cold out like today. 2 degrees.
Dealer can't figure it out. Any ideas on what migh be wrong? The Anti
Freeze level is fine as well.

gas that might solve your problem. If no one will post the exact name of
the product, I suggest that you visit an auto parts store and talk to the
manager. He or she should be able to sell you what you need to solve the
problem. I also advise you to change out the fuel filter. At least one
person recently said that when he changed the fuel filter--his cold
weather problems went away. It turns out that water can get trapped in the
filter causing all sorts of problems during cold weather.

in to the driveway and put the care in park and it starts fluctuating.

More than likely, it is your fast idle valve. It also could be a vacuum
leak, too high idle speed, or perhaps a throttle cable that is too tight.

The three things that the local Honda dealer told me could cause this
behavior are:

-Faulty fast idle valve

-Faulty IAC(Idle Air Control) valve *Same as above--perhaps?
NOTE: This part is about $215.00 USD for an '89 Civic

-Throttle cable sticking

Recently someone here was having a similar problem with an Accord and they
posted that it was a thermostat getting stuck 'open'.

Take this list to your dealer and tell them to give one of these a shot.
Cheapest option first of course. :-)

dealer. You would think that they've seen this before. I still see a
lot of 92-93 Accords on the road. Maybe most don't go to the dealer

Thanks for the info. I saved a copy of your messaget to take to the
dealer. You would think that they've seen this before. I still see a
lot of 92-93 Accords on the road. Maybe most don't go to the dealer
anymore. Who knows.
