Speedometer/Odometer work intermittently
I have a 91 Honda Accord which has a problem that happens intermittently
while driving. The speedometer and odometer are working fine then all of a
sudden the speedometer drops to 0 and the odometer stops registering
mileage. Sometimes they will start working again during the trip, and other
times they won't. There doesn't seem to be anything that triggers the
failure. When they stop working, a green indicator light with a 'S' in it
(under the temperature gauge) and the yellow indicator with a engine icon
light up.
A local repair show said that he could replace a sensor (or sending unit ?)
on the transmission for around $150 but wouldn't guarantee that it would fix
the problem. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks
John
