sticky gas pedal on 88 CRX si

I have a sticky gas pedal on my standard '88 CRX si. It doesn't seem to
be sticky with the engine shut off or when it is idling. Only when the
car is in gear. Can anyone give me any idea what the problem could be?
I have played around with the slack on the cable, but that did
nothing.

I know of two possible causes.....
You could have a carbon buildup around the throttle plate (common on
96-98 Accords) or you could have a bad ground to the engine. Is the
wire from the valve cover to the core support there and tight at each
end? If not then your throttle cable could be making the ground for
the engine getting hot and melting into the cable housing.
