Thinking of Insight

Hello, I am thinking of buying an insight. I live in a large metro city so
will basically only be driving in the city. I had heard interstate driving
can make the insight sway. I am curious about the reliability of the
batteries and the car overall. I had a prelude and a civic both of which I
drove till they died--they were great cars! Comments?

If you're used to Civic, and like them, you might be happier with a Civic
Hybrid. The Insight is an earlier rendition and not as advanced as the
Civic. Also, it has some issues with back seat room, due to the battery
being under the seat. Believe the resale value would be low, since they seem
to be hard to sell. One down the street, near me, has been posted for six
months, without selling.

Yeah, Civic Hybrid might be way to go. You get a back seat, conventional
looks, higher resale value. Yeah you loose 10 mpg or so, but oh well.

The space available for the back seat passengers is the same for the
Civic Hybrid as the conventional Civic Sedan. What is different is the
trunk space, 10.1 cubic feet for the Civic Hybrid vs. 12.9 for the
regular Civic Sedan.

Now, the Insight has some serious limitations on back seat space...

I have a friend that has an Insight and she plans to trade it in on a
Civic Hybrid since she said the Insight don't have enough
power--especially when going up mountains or "grades". She also did not
like the lack of space related to the back seat. It's for these two
reasons that I think that you would like the Civic Hybrid more than you
would like the Insight. Also, you should check out the Toyota Prius.
Toyota made a new model of the Prius in 2004 and it was the Motor Trend
car of the year for 2004. I don't know whether it is more powerful than
the Civic Hybrid. You should test drive both of them.
