Took back my Honda filters
I took back my honda filters to the Honda Dealer because at first I thought
the had given me the wrong size for my 99 civic. Upon further inspection I got some smaller filter for a dollar more that fits on the civic. Whats this? Honda changed filters on me? I decied if they are going to charge me a 1 more per filter that was quite a bit smaller in diameter then I should at least make sure they are good.. Anyone know why they changed? I'll take my money and go buy a good WAX for the same price with the larger size.... |

Re: Took back my Honda filters
Why don't you buy OEM filters from hparts.com or hondapartsforyou.com ? they
are around $4 a piece plus shipping. You can buy several at the time and split the cost of shipping. I thought they would do the same and go to the smaller filter...
Something intresting... the filter they had cut apart at the dealer had a few different parts than the one shown in the picture... or may its my memory... Re: Took back my Honda filters
AFAIK, The Honda S2000 oil filters are the same as the "old" filters.
So, if you are more comfortable using the "old" ones just order filters for the S2000. AFAIK, The Honda S2000 oil filters are the same as the "old" filters.
So, if you are more comfortable using the "old" ones just order filters for the S2000. Re: Took back my Honda filters
On accounta why? I worked at a gas station during high school, and the
whole way through college. The guy I worked for sold Fram, and used them on his thirty foot cabin cruiser. I have never used anything else. My Accord has 215000 miles on it. I have done every oil change. I see no reason to change the type of filter I use. bob Robert wrote: > > Nah!.... never use Fram > |

Will the dealer still keep them in stock for the s2000? Will they increase
in price? Re: Took back my Honda filters
Thats the point. The S2000's current filter is identical to the old
filter for every other Honda. So, by buying S2000 filters you would be getting the "old" style filter that you are familiar with. They do work, but there are better options today. John Force uses Frams on his race car. If you ran an engine for a whole minute before you rebuilt it like John does, a Fram would be fine. A Mr. Coffee filter would be fine on John Force's race car; all he has to worry about is straining whole pistons out of the oil. I don't like rebuilding engines after one minute. I know Purolator makes Honda's OEM filters--they make most OEM filters. One of the Purolator oil filter plants is in Fayetteville, NC (as am I) and they maintain a production line that does nothing but OEM filters. We printed a little promotional piece for them. It was all in Japanese so I couldn't read it, but there was a photo...of a Honda, a Mazda and a Nissan OEM filter sitting next to each other. I run Purolator PureOnes in just about everything I've got to maintain that has an oil filter. They keep the oil clean. They tell me a Mobil 1 is a great filter. For what they want for one, it damn well better be. But as with anything else Honda, it seems that it's best just to put Honda parts on it. (Is it just me, or are Honda owners more devoted to OEM parts than Harley riders?) |
