What is the fascination with spoilers on riceburners?
Why do some Honda owners insist on adding spoilers that are literally
1/3 the size of their entire riceburner ?
I'm cruising home after a hard day at the office. Some clown in a blue
riceburner with foglights on (despite it being a clear evening) rolls up
behind me. He decides that 75mph isn't fast enough and flashes his
high-beams.
Being a good driver, I signal then change lanes to let him pass.
As he's going by, I see racing stripes on his riceburner and a spoiler
that was four sizes too big. No joke. This spoiler looked like a giant
handle for his riceburner. It had to be two feet high and was actually
wider than his car.
Of course, his seat was way the hell back and he was driving with one
hand on the wheel and one hand holding a cigarette.

I'd rather put my money into the engine compartment and BLOW HIS DOORS OFF!
Probably had a Fart Horn muffler too, right?

I don't understand it either, they look stupid (the car also), and most have
performance that can be shamed by a Hyundai Excel.

It's a neighborhood thing, mostly--it just depends on what their peers
are doing. The big chrome wheels, 55-series tires, and gigantic
spoilers are a fashion statement/mating display.
It doesn't seem to be working too well though, 'cause I rarely see
these guys accompanied by any femininity in their rides. Or, maybe we
tend to stay out of each other's 'hoods on the weekends.
