For normal daily driving, you should use d4, but if your transmission seems to shift a lot, then use d3 for city driving. The 4 in d4 is basically overdrive for highway use. The sports mode basically changes the shift points for optimal power vice optimal fuel economy. Hope this helps.

Gearbox can be shifted either manually or automatically. It delivers more power and better control than a traditional automatic transmission and faster performance than a manual transmission.gearbox is an automatic box with manual override. The on-board computer systems combine data from the engine, transmission and gear lever to control the throttle, clutch and gearshift during each change. The driver stays on the throttle during the shift and merely pulls the lever to go up a gear or pushes it to go down, the clutch pedal is not needed except for pulling away from rest. Manual mode is engaged by either sliding the shift lever to the side or pulling one of the paddles on the steering wheel. Once in manual mode, shifts are made by moving the shifter fore and aft or using the paddles (which are marked "" and "-"). If manual mode was engaged with the paddles, pulling and holding the upshift paddle returns the transmission to automatic mode, allowing the driver to quickly downshift to a lower gear for passing and then hand control back over to the transmission.Hope that helps enjoy your Honda

with automatics, you put them into D and go, you only need mess with 1,2,3 etc if you are in traffic etc, but I dont even bother then, I just keep it in drive. As regard your sports button, I had one on a vauxhall carlton, and I would leave it well alone, once you switch to sports you can almost see your fuel guage go down, makes a good sound though but uses lots more petrol.
