2006 Elantra Clutch
I think the clutch is going in my 2006 Elantra. 75,000 miles on it so
I can't claim it isn't driven much. ;-)
Would it be under the original owner warranty?
Roughlt how much for a clutch replacement?
Any other reason it might occasionally seem to be slipping?

There is one, Elantra has this stupid valve in the clutch hydraulics
that limits oil flow when clutch pedal is released. In practice it
means that if you try to start too hard it will slip for about a
second before full grip. If you need to replace clutch now, find
mechanic who knows Hyundai and ask to remove this valve as well.

You may have hit the nail on the head as to why I think I have a
problem. I did not know about the valve. Thanks!

Re: 2006 Elantra Clutch
Probably not covered under the warranty. Clutch wear is covered 1 year/12k
miles. Defect, on the other hand, is covered 10/100k. If it's slipping,
there's a very low, although nonzero, probability that it's a defect.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. Probably the most significant problem
is the nut behind the wheel. ;-) Any idea what a new one costs done
by the dealer?
