2006 Sonata LX, what did you pay?
I'm curious what folks have paid for their 2006 Sonata LX.. with all the
bells and whistles. I'm looking at one that's about $28,900.. which seems awfully high compared to prices from cars.com and even Hyundai's own website. Thanks, Kiran |
Re: 2006 Sonata LX, what did you pay?
$28,900 is about 4 grand over full sticker of $24,895.
We just bought a Black 06 Sonata LX with Package 3 yesterday for just over $24K driveout in Atlanta which included TT&L ($300 Ad Valorem Tax and Sales Tax at 7.5% on the full purchase price ......no trade, it was a straight buy). Keith, is yours the 3.3 liter? The one I'm looking at is.

Re: 2006 Sonata LX, what did you pay?
Actually, let me back up a little.
I have signed for this car but haven't taken delivery yet. I spent 7 hours at the dealership deciding which model to buy. I originally wanted an Accent but.. once I drove the 2006 Sonata.. well, let's just say 235HP changed my mind. The one I finally decided on is the LX, with.. the #15 package, I believe. It's leather, has a sun roof, 6 CD changer in the dash, etc. I see the $24,895 figure in several places on-line, but they don't mention the actual accessories I'm getting. But I also know a sun roof and CD changer don't total $4K. Also as a side note, the only one they had in a color I liked, with all the options, turned out to have something seriously wrong with one or more tires/rims. When I drove it it felt like you were driving over railroad tracks constantly. They insisted they would have it fixed Monday and I could pick it up then, and gave me another 2006 LX as a loaner. When I go back, I'll look at the sticker and see what it says. Either I'm reading the paperwork wrong, or there's a you-know-what in the woodpile. Re: 2006 Sonata LX, what did you pay?
The $24,895 sticker on ours was for a V6 LX (the LX Only comes in the 3.3L
V6 with an automatic) with every FACTORY option included (US wise anyway...The package 3 includes the 6 Disc CD changer and the Sunroof, everything else available from the factory is standard on the LX including heated leather seating, 5 spoke wheels, etc.) Ours also included the VIN numbers etched in all the glass for theft prevention. Factory sticker pricing in GA breaks down as follows: 2006 Sonata LX Base $22895 Package 3 $1,400 (Sunroof lists as $850 and CD at $550) Destination $ 600 What I saw at a dealer in Florida were a ton of dealer add-ons that were there to inflate the price such as: Super-Duper paint protectant $399 Pin Stripes $299 Window-etched VIN numbers$ 199 Tires-for-life Free oil changes under basic warranty Total Dealer sticker was $26595 Keith If you want to see the actual prices and options go to www.kbb.com or the Hyundai site itself and build your own. The Hyundai sticker was $21,495 (no options). The DEALER sticker was $24,795 after they added on pin striping, glass etching (already done from the factory) and other useless items just to rip people off. I went to the Consumer Reports web site and purchased the price report for this car (I believe the LX was included also). The bottom line on my GLS was $19,400. In my region (NJ) they also had $2000 in rebates, bringing the bottom line to $17,400 plus tax and tags. I had a trade-in with about $1500 in equity too, so the total I paid AFTER tax (6% here) and tags and all of the other BS fees is $16,800. The owner of the dealership told me that this was the lowest price anyone had paid at his dealership for a V6 Sonata. I will check the Consumer Reports web site for the report I purchased and if it has the LX on it, I will try to send it to you. You really shouldn't pay a penny more than the bottom line on this report (plus tax, tags, etc.). Let the next sucker that comes along pay for the dealer's mansion. Eric |
Re: 2006 Sonata LX, what did you pay?
Kiran,
Concerning the rough ride on the Sonata you are about to purchase... It's possible the only problem is that the tires are over-inflated. My 2006 Sonata GLS was delivered with the tire pressure at 50 psi. The recommended pressure (located inside the driver's door on a tag) is 30psi! The maximum pressure on the side of the tire is 45 psi. Many drivers (and apparently some dealerships) do not know that you inflate to the pressure in the driver's door. It was a very rough ride for the first day until I discovered the improper inflation. The Sonatas I test drove also drove roughly so I suspect all were overinflated. I notifed the general manager at my dealership. Good luck with your new purchase! GeoUSA, moderator http://www.HyundaiExchange.com |

28,900 sounds like Canadian price.

It's called buyer beware. I haven't been to a dealer yet that gave a straight answer on that. I mean, I could understand charging a few hundred dollars for "profit", above their costs (like advertising and other overhead) but why some people pay $4000 (or more) extra for the same car the guy at the next desk is buying is beyond me. Anyway good luck with it.....and make damned sure you get those wheels fixed. Eric |
