Blue Smoke
2000 Elantra, 116k's. When starting, Blue smoke, lots of it comes out
of exhaust after sitting overnite and the temps below 10 degrees.
Clears off after 10 seconds. Only happens on initial start. Car runs
well all day. New plugs and wires last fall.

Re: Blue Smoke
Sounds like a set of rings and valve seals is in order!

Or a $2.00 can of STP.
Feel free to disagree with me but IMHO Hyundai's are "disposable" cars. Any
service much beyond 100K miles is gravy and if something serious goes wrong
with one after that point it's time for another.

Re: Blue Smoke
It'll vary greatly by region and shop. I'd call around. Where I work,
it'd be about $1150, but depending on where you are, and where you have
the work done, you may be able to get it done much cheaper. I work in a
dealer -and- we're in the high rent district.

If your not using excessive oil then live with it.

OK, I disagree with you. My experience is that Hyundai's are quite
durable and worth keeping running. I finally gave up on my Excel at 170K
miles, since it needed ~$2000 worth of work (front wheel bearings tranny
bearings, both of which have been done before) and it's only a $200 car
now. I may do the wheel bearings myself, just so I can keep it as a
backup car.

sounds like the oil you are using is too light or just try a better
quality oil and a heavier grade if that doesn't fix it , could be guides
but usually they smoke on all starts particualy when its hot
