Dear Mr. Ridez,
You are welcome to participate in our usenet group.
Your going through the usenet groups and carpet bombing your advertisement
is spamming.

Re: Crooked-Ridez
Sorry, your wrong. This isn't spamming. And I'm not carpet bombing either.
I'm posting a link for others to see. I'm not trying to sell you anything.
It's information, and nothing else. If you don't want to visit the link then
don't. I don't spam, nor do I support spamming.
I'm sorry you disagree.

You're probably right about that. I haven't seen it in the other
groups I frequent, and have only seen it once here. It really doesn't
fit the definition of "spam".

However, I do have a couple comments:
*Please* fix the grammar! Photo "Gallery's", for instance, should be
Photo "Galleries"; an apostrophe indicates possession, not
pluralality. Ditto for "Video's" and More--it should read "Videos"
and More.
Sorry for the nitpicking, but I believe your site (and many others)
would be far more attractive to far more people without errors such as
these. You've obviously worked hard on it, and it looks very good.
Why spoil it with such glaring mistakes?
Off my soapbox now...

Humm. Probably an apology on my part is in order.
I saw the same advert in alt.autos.dodge.trucks, alt.autos.turbocharged,
alt.autos.pontiac, alt.autos.toyota and just assumed we were dealing with a
spam bot.

You shouldn't apologize. I have seen it in half a dozen groups, not
including those listed above.
As far as I am concerned any mass posted message promoting a web site or
anything else for that matter is spam, regardless of whether he used a bot
or not.

Nope, no spam bot, I just posted in the groups that I read often.

Spamming isn't only commercial posts, it's *anything* posted to a certain
number of newsgroups a certain number of times or the same newsgroup a
certain number of times.
If I were to post "<so-and-so> is an idiot" 50 times in this newsgroup
without anything additional to my posts or *even just slight differences in
each post*, that would be considered spamming.
It's all about the BI score. Look into it!

Re: Crooked-Ridez
I have looked into it, and as a website owner, I am familiar with people
spamming the registery and forums and such. BUT, how is someone supposed to
let people know about a website (that is not malicious, and is a genuine
place) without posting to a few places?? As a website owner, you have to get
the word out somehow. I did not feel that I was SPAMMING the newsgroups,
while I was posting to the ones that I read often. The text inside the post
was minimal, and I did steal anyone's e-mail address (which seems to be
quite popular in newsgroups). I feel that some people abuse the term *spam*
to much. I have never cross posted before, and felt that it would make it
easier to hit all the newsgroups I read at the same time. I see now that
people are too quick to acuse you of SPAMMING, instead of realizing the
actual purpose of it. The reason I posted the link on the newsgroups,
instead of anywhere else is because, on average, I believe that newsgroup
readers are more mature, enthusiastic, and have more interest in the
particular topic (auto's in this case).
Hopefully some people realize the purpose of the post and visit/enjoy my
site, as I did not mean to strike up an arguement of any kind. So, at this
point I appologize if you find my original post offending.
Thanks
