Hyundai Elantra 1992-odd engine overheating problem...
I had posted before about my car pinging a lot after driving it for a
while...at almost ANY
load or throttle setting when it gets bad...
It now seems the engine is overheating; running the heater in the car seems
to help
(the air temp out the vents can reach 190F(!), and is never below 170F-what
is it supposed to be?)
if pinging gets bad, pulling over with heater on for a few minutes 'resets'
the pinging for a while.
Cooling fans, when they kick on, stay on a long time...
The odd thing, and this is a killer-the temp guage never rises from its
normal setting.
The guage has been tested, although the sensor has not...
A Water pump, horribly blocked pipes in the engine of radiator, or a
thermostat is my guess-
I will find out this week-end! I'll post back on it...

Could be a number of things, but I'd think thermostat first.

check the radiator/condenser fins for road gunk build up.
