Looking for Crank sensor (CKP) 1.8 DOHC 97 Elantra
I am looking to replace my Crank sensor (CKP) on my 97 Elantra 1.8
DOHC 5 sp 128 K miles because I am getting code 035 and the car has
trouble starting every like 3 or 4 weeks. To get it started I have to
put my foot to the floor to open the butterfly valve. Seems like I
have flooded the motor when this happens?
I did find two sensor that are like 3" to the left of the motor/trans
split about 1/3 to 1/2 way down near the exhust. Would one of them be
it? I can not find it in the shop book yet and the Chiltons book does
not give a good picture.
Any tricks to getting it other than heat?
Please only respond to news group.
Thanks
Ken

There's a nice pix on HyundaiUSA.com showing the CKP
right next to the oil pressure switch. The caption states, "Left
front of engine, beside exhaust manifold." ( Which ever side
the Koreans have designated as 'left'.) =;-)
