You didnt get too many miles from those Michelins. I go to Pep Boys
Auto center for my tires ; look for a softer tire and it will soak up
some of the rear suspension sound that Sonata's are known for. I had a
2001 Sonata..and the noise was reverberating ; maybe they got it cleared
up on your year.

Congrats on the 23K Miles! I replacedthe OEM tires on my 03 Sonata at
18K (and they pretty much sucked in the rain for the last 6K miles).
I replaced them with Yokohama Avid H4s (not H4) tires. These tires
are incredible and, if you get them from TireRack, VERY inexpensive.

I'll be replacing the Michelins on my '04 as well. They're wearing very well
but are horrible in the snow. My choice would be one of these. BF Goodrich
traction T/A T, Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread or Comfort Tread. All have
very high ratings at Tire Rack.

Decided to try the Yokohamas. I checked on Tirerack.com for the H4s
and the price seems good. About $64 a tire. Called a local tire place
and was able to get all 4 for about $380 total (should be in end of
the week)
I didn't see any just H4 at tirerack, so I'm hoping the local dealer
didn't order me the H4 rather then the H4s. What is the difference?

good choice, yokies are great tires...
exspecially the avid h4.
i remebr we had a used sonata loaner once with them, they were half worn and
felt very stable in the snow n sluush.
i was recommenting the nokians cause theyre the only 4 season tire thats
severe snow usesages rated...
but those yokies are pretty good too...
im thinking of taking our winters of soon.
in summer i have kumho/uylsses from walmart on our accent.

I haven’t had to replace the tires on my ’04 Elantra GT yet, but I
have had excellent results with Kumho Ecsta HP4 tires on similar size
cars (’99 Mercury Tracer and ’02 Toyota Camry). They are very
low-priced and have a good ride, good wet handling and decent snow
service. Check out the ratings and reviews on Tire Rack. Not
super-sporty, but overall, a very good value as far as I’m concerned.

I haven’t had to replace the tires on my ’04 Elantra GT yet, but I
have had excellent results with Kumho Ecsta HP4 tires on similar size
