problem with cooler - sonata97
Hi folks,
last year i bought sonata 2.0 CDi automat 1997 and she run decently
untill now.
the problem is cooler. I guess so because after few miles its
overheated.
Recently i went to the local garage where my friend is a mechanic or
at this moment i would rather say "mechanic".
He replaced the head gasket, fan switch, thermostat and timing belt
but did not fix the problem. The fans still not going on. I saw the
fans running when he omitted system so i guess fans will be ok, they
just can’t get the impuls to switch on.
I picked out local garage because of my friend and its cheaper, but
now i start regret that. By the way few days before start that problem
with the cooler i poured into tank enhaced liquid to clean pistons and
valves. Some side effects?
Always remember before you can become old and wise you must be young
and stupid.
Before I take the car to the Hyundai dealer to investigate the cause
of the problem and repair it, I would like to know some of yours
suggestions. Try to avoid taking car to the dealer again then again
and again and they tell me that the cause of the problem could be this
and that or many other things, all of them fairly expensive to repair,
probably more than the cost of the car...
If you have any hints or suggestions about this, I will be very
grateful for that.
Thanks a lot.
Tomas

Re: problem with cooler - sonata97
Sounds as if you have already put more money into a 97 car than its worth.
I would not throw more money into it. Dealers don't do work cheap. Many
years ago I had the same problem with a electric fan not coming on. I
straight wired it to wire that came hot when I turned on the ignition
switch. Took care of the problem.
