It may be considered normal by Hyundai, but I've not owned a car in the past
25 years that used that much. My 3.8 Buick goes 12,000 Km between changes
and uses not enough to add between changes.

1000 miles per quart is considered the limit by most manufacturers
before a warranty repair will be offered. This is pretty close to your
1500 km figure. I wouldn't call this normal, but that is the limit of
the normal range.
I've had vehicles all over the map. I've had a few that burned or
leaked a quart every 1,000 miles (VW Beetles, Plymouth Fury III, etc.),
but those were 20 years ago. Of my current vehicles, my Chevy truck
uses a quart about every 2500-3000 miles. I have to add one quart
between the 5,000 mile changes. My Dodge Grand Caravan doesn't use a
measurable amount of oil in 5,000 miles nor does my Sonata. I don't
think either uses an 1/8 of a quart between changes.
My 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager used a quart every 1500 miles and did
that from the time I bought it with 30,000 miles on it. It really
wasn't much worse at 178,000 miles.

seen the dipstick level drop.
