Santa Fe Power question
Hi,
Wife fell in love with a Merlot Santa Fe the other day. It's sitting in
our drive way now. Traded our 01 Chrysler town and country for it.
Anyway, I wanted the 3.5, but this car was on the lot, trimmed exactly the
way she wanted it, and the color she wanted. So we got it with the 2.7 V-6.
The car goes well enough, no complaints. I was wondering if there is some
kind of add-on to tweak the power up a little? I've seen those commercials
for the cyclone thingy that goes in the air flow stream. Never bought one
because it looked like about 25 cents worth of tin. Anyone know of some
gizmo that might tweak things up a little?

Re: Santa Fe Power question
Steve,
1. Those vortex items are a hoax, don't bother. Google and you'll even find
posts about when they shift out of position and block the intake path.
2. Remember to give the engine some time to break in, as it does, it seems
to gain power a little easier.
3. Consider a less restrictive air filter such as the K&N. There are
different brands and the debate about if they might let more dirt in the
engine, but these types of filters have been around a long time and are used
in professional cars.
4. Use a good quality and appropriate oil for your climate.
5. Learn to use your shifter, which with practice, can help you make those
on-ramps and passing just a little more fun.
6. Check out the SantaFe Forum at:

Good luck.

A K&N filter and synthetic oil are good choices for an SF.
I have both on my 2002 2.7L, and I have NO problems with power, either at sea
level (my residence) or at 7,200 feet (my usual recreational area).
