screetching trans
does anyone have a idea why our accents transmission makes a dry screetching
noise when car is idling in the am when cold out?(as for the rad fan running
when cold from prev posts, im leaving it till we have enough $$ to go to
dealer to have codes red etc..)
sounds like when a fan is going, a whirring/rrrrrrrrrrt rrrrt intermittant
sound every 1 second or so.
it goes away after about 5 minutes warm up time, or when you push the clutch
in....
god i miss the t-h-c and dukes advice...
thank you to all that reply too =)

Re: screetching trans
our trans was redone under warranty in 2001-02 ... besides that sound, in
neutral it also amkes a kinda light hollow tapping sound, and a light barely
audible grinding noise that went away when u push in the clutch, and the
creeking pedal.
its been making sounds again since around 1 yr after the repair.
i been to shop at that time nurmerous time, every time' we 'hear nothing,
even left over night etc....
got to point the mech refused to even look at it.
now i fear our trans is gonna go again cause that screetching when cold is
getting worse, the other noises are same still... and when u let out clutch
i hear a creak click click coming from lower left part of car.
sorry to hear about your elantra....
