Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
Hyundai and Mitsubishi dealers for SPIII. If I recall correctly that you
have a fuel injected Excel, you should be able to go to your neighborhood parts store and by type 7176, which is also available as ATF+3 at Chrysler dealers. |
Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
Kia and Mitsubishi (and of course Hyundai) dealers have it. I got some
at a Dodge dealer, it was labeled "Mopar Mitsubishi type transmission fluid SP III". |
Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
I have a 2002 accent, i need a transmission fluid change all together, but
i am sure they cant get me in on monday so i am going to buy some fluid to top it off untill i can get it. how much will I pay for a quart? I just put the fluid in where the dipstick is right? do I add the fluid while it in nuteral? |
Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
Why are you adding fluid? It shouldn't be low unless you have a leak.
You should expect to pay about $7 a quart, and you should add it through the dipstick hole. It doesn't matter which gear the car is in when it's added, but it should be checked hot, idling in neutral. Not hot will result in a low reading, not running will result in a high reading, and in park will result in a high reading. |
Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
My 2004 Sonata was 1/2 quart low when it was delivered to me. I added a
half quart. It didn't seem to matter if it was idling in neutral or park, the dipstick showed the same in both. But the owners manual (and hyundaitech) say check it in neutral so that's what I did. Had my Sonata LX for 9 months now and it's flawless. Glad I didn't spend $5000 more for an Accord. Thanks hyundaitech for all your expert answers, you're a great resource. |
Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
It was only about 1/2 a quart low, so maybe it came that way? I just added
it to be on the safe side. I will be getting a fluid change next monday, (i have just over 40k and have never had one) I know the manual saids 100k to change it, but that seems like a lot |
Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
Half a quart is only the difference between the top and bottom of the
allowable area. From what I've seen, they appear to be intentionally be filling to the minimum. There may be some reason for this I'm not aware of. |
Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
Hyundai tech, DO you know what could be causing my transmission to "pop"
into gear, This usually happend when i go from reverse to drive. It dosent always do this, but when it happens its very noticable. I am going to ask that they look for any codes that may come up, when they do my tranny fluid on monday, is there anything else i should have them look at? Is this normal for a hyundai accent. |
Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
Is this a noise or something you feel?
The noise is usually caused by a loose motor mount bolt. The jerking is usually caused by not coming to a complete stop prior to making the r-d shift or vice versa. |
Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
Its a little of both. Usualy the pop occurs when i am backing out of my
drive way and need to go into drive quickly ( i live along a busy street) But just today it happened when i put my car into reverse from being parked at a mall. |
