Hyundai and Mitsubishi dealers for SPIII. If I recall correctly that you
have a fuel injected Excel, you should be able to go to your neighborhood
parts store and by type 7176, which is also available as ATF+3 at Chrysler
dealers.

Why are you adding fluid? It shouldn't be low unless you have a leak.
You should expect to pay about $7 a quart, and you should add it through
the dipstick hole.
It doesn't matter which gear the car is in when it's added, but it should
be checked hot, idling in neutral. Not hot will result in a low reading,
not running will result in a high reading, and in park will result in a
high reading.

My 2004 Sonata was 1/2 quart low when it was delivered to me. I added a
half quart. It didn't seem to matter if it was idling in neutral or
park, the dipstick showed the same in both. But the owners manual (and
hyundaitech) say check it in neutral so that's what I did.
Had my Sonata LX for 9 months now and it's flawless. Glad I didn't spend
$5000 more for an Accord.
Thanks hyundaitech for all your expert answers, you're a great resource.

It was only about 1/2 a quart low, so maybe it came that way? I just added
it to be on the safe side. I will be getting a fluid change next monday,
(i have just over 40k and have never had one) I know the manual saids 100k
to change it, but that seems like a lot

Hyundai tech, DO you know what could be causing my transmission to "pop"
into gear, This usually happend when i go from reverse to drive. It dosent
always do this, but when it happens its very noticable. I am going to ask
that they look for any codes that may come up, when they do my tranny
fluid on monday, is there anything else i should have them look at? Is
this normal for a hyundai accent.

Re: where can i buy tranny fluid
Its a little of both. Usualy the pop occurs when i am backing out of my
drive way and need to go into drive quickly ( i live along a busy street)
But just today it happened when i put my car into reverse from being
parked at a mall.
