My bone stock SE-R Spec-V held on just fine with no distance lost to the WRX. He couldn't pull away.
From a standstill it's a different story, his awd means he rockets ahead right away. Once we're rolling he doesn't pull further but I can't reel him in either.
I was also dissapointed how poorly the stock WRX handles in tight corners compared to my Sentra. He had to take much wider turns than I did.
Ahh the beauty of AWD's added weight.

I once had the opportunity to race an friends '95 prelude SR-V, while I had a new (at the time) '03 wrx wagon auto.
First run I had one car length to 120km/h
Second run he launched properly and spanked me real good. like 6 or 7 car lengths.
Moral of the story. stock wrx's aren't that fast.

Automatic WRXs are at least a full second slower through the 1/4 mile then a 5-speed WRX, so that's not a good comparison.

Stock WRX's aren't that quick, but a TBE and any ECU, and not too many of you would touch'em. My best run Stage 2 was mid 12's, but I left my clutch at the line, it takes a lot of practice to perfect the launch, but once you got it, its golden.

main idea of dragracing awd cars is the jump at the begining. Without the jump they are nothing. So no surprise you beat him on a highway.

This reminds me of one russian forum where a never ending fight is going on between bmw and toyota (m5 vers supra to be precise). But here its civic vs cavy. LOL!!! shows how dull canada really is.

We are talking about two cars in entirely different markets.
Even the Z24 is just a regular cheap commuter car. It cannot be held in the same category as Type-R, SiR, Spec-V etc.. let alone a SPORTS CAR like the Miata.
Cavaliers don't make much power, handling is nothing to write home about and they aren't reliable.
You might be able to make it fast, you might be able to make it handle but out of the box they are poor/average at everything. They deserve no more respect than any other car in it's class (corolla, sentra, civic, escort, focus..)
The Miata on the other hand is a very capable car, it's not the fastest in a straight line but it has all the other qualities that make a car fun. Cavaliers have NONE of those.

i know that cavalier is an econobox and theres no reason to compare it to Type-R, SiR, Spec-V etc. Thats why you compare it to the cars in its class. and compared to them its fine.
I would prefer to drive any 4 dr car to a miata. What makes miata gay is how unpractical it is. its like a ing toy. can be only used to have fun...cavalier is at least a real car
