Another GS-T

Well, I was with the girl and I see that ugly, high rise spoiler on an Eclipse, oh ****, GS-t. So I catch up, glance over and he just takes off, i caught up to him and passed him, then we ran out of room because of some cars that were in the way so he starts weaving in and out of traffic like a total idiot, I passed up on that, ESPECIALLY with the girl in the car, but i gradually catch up and we meet up at a red light, we race, i win by a car length and a half. We go again at ANOTHER red light, and he said the coolest thing any sixer likes to hear "thats an 8 right?!" I smile and hold up 6 fingers, he shakes his head in disgust. I just yell take it easy, he nods and i make a right. Cool race.

SLPowerZ 06-29-2005 10:19 AM

thats cool man, nice kill

Mike Jones 06-29-2005 10:56 AM

Wow, my brother beat V6 Camaro's with his stock GSX all the time.

ryann 06-29-2005 11:01 AM

the GSX being AWD helps because even I beat GST when I first got my camaro. A GSX im sure would be interesting.

Same engine and performance, it just weight's more so if you don't race from a stop it's actually slower.

yea what i meant if it was from a STOP like when I raced the GST was from a roll then a light and I won both of them and he was 5spd/exhaust but a GSX from a stock would probably take a stock 6 unless you have some good mods.

Thinking the same thing. Also the GS-t i raced had what appeared to be a catback exhaust, fart can, but the same chrome tubing behund the muffler, I could tell cause it was coming out of an angle.

could also be a clone, they go and buy some badges and slap them on (I looked at a grand prix that someone put gtp badges on and it was a 3.1 :banghead:I have seen a couple v6 camaros with z badges too)

That's what I was thinking too.

From Old Road & Track mags I have:

GST 0-60 6.7 seconds
3.8 FBody 0-60 8.0 seconds

97z2801ss 06-29-2005 02:17 PM

I dunno good kill anything can and will happen on the street

JimmyFrance 06-29-2005 07:11 PM

First off.

1) Heard the turbo
2) I read the stock 0-60 for a 3.8 was 7.4, and going by my intake, 3.42 gears, and LSD, id estimate mine to be 7 flat.
3) 2nd one ive beaten, and also...sentra kid beat one too.

His is a '98 and 3.8's do the quarter in the mid 15 second range.

JimmyFrance 06-29-2005 10:15 PM

Exactly...theyre VERY evenly matched, its not really surprising that I beat 2 of them, nor is it unbelievable, thats jsut rediculous.

My other brother use to have a first gen GST(I'm the only one who hasn't owned one) and I really didn't care for it personally. But I guess that's just me, I really do love my brother's though. He has since put quite a bit of money into the engine and that thing pulls really hard now. I was riding with him one night and a fox body 5.0 pulled up next to us to race, so we stop at the red light and when it turned green the tires on the GSX were smoking through the entire intersetion!

SLPowerZ 07-01-2005 01:27 AM

i'm not a big fan of the first gens either, but i wouldn't mind owning a 97-99 gst or gsx

red9450 07-02-2005 10:32 PM

eclipse+turbo+awd=junk. lots of money for them to run fast and not break. My buddy had one that dynoed 551whp, and he drove it like 3 weeks out of the year cuz it broke all the time, and i know of several others that just have BPUs that aren't really that reliable. redline clutch drops are not kind to awd, but a hella lot of fun. lol

NoRiceInside 07-03-2005 06:07 PM

i love that generation eclipses...like chads bro...they look so awesome!

JimmyFrance 07-03-2005 07:45 PM

Man.. I HATE when people base their whole opinion off of a car because they know one person with a bad experience. My friends parents had a early 3rd gen camaro and it was a total pos so now they talk bad about every camaro they see and refuse to let my friend get a 4th gen.

NCamaro94 07-03-2005 07:58 PM

yes but on the other hand it would piss you off if you dunked 10k in performance and it falls apart a couple months after you fix it. first impression is everything, including a car to some people. to each their own.

69z-28 07-03-2005 09:55 PM

one guy i know, has a first gen Talon TSI AWD and a turbo Laser fwd. he payed 3 for his talon, put a grand into it and he kept up with an LT1/LS1 in VERY hot weather. i cant remmeber what kinda camaro it was but it had exhaust and sounded like headers too. either way, his cars are both pretty fast for what he has put into them. he also has a friend with pretty minimal mods that is running low 12s. i like those cars and they are prolly the first import i would buy if looking at one, even tho i think they are still american, i mean 4 cylinder "tuners" lol.

I've met one person who hasn't had trouble with an eclipse/talon

yeah my friend has a turbo 94 eclipse that runs a 13.9. crazy ****, he might even get a chance to be in import tuner. its probably the only right hand drive first gen in the US, since theres no kit he did it himself. this guy has tons of custom, home made stuff, and its not too shabby. lambo doors, interior panels removed, yet it still looks good. i respect that ****.

werd, guys that do it rite deserve respect

archemedes 07-04-2005 03:12 PM

yes they do, but as soon as the garish stuff goes on the body they get harrassed (I don't car what kind of car it is)

69z-28 07-04-2005 03:32 PM

the guy i know has NOTHING that would make you think of it as a ricer except the big exhaust pipe, but its all custom exhaust and downpipe and a lot of other crazy stuff.

ya but big exhaust pipe doesn't mean its a ricer, all the catbacks for those cars have bigtips, thats just how they're made. and to tell you the truth alot of them look **** good w/ a high end catback, even if it is a lil on the big side for most of ur tastes
