well, i'm new here, but just reading through i realize that you guys like to talk a lot of smack, what you guys should do is either line up your cars (no, not your boss's minivans) but the cars you own that are supposely fast and see who comes out on top, or if that is too hard to arrange, post your time slips

but i'm just a stranger so who really cares what i think.......

nontoxic 02-23-2006 01:06 AM

also, cav is piece of crap...... i don't know how fast they are.... but no they cannot beat a v6 mustang, well neither could a stock civic. but bottom line about cav is that they are unreliable (i consider you lucky if you get your cav over 100k miles without being on verge of breaking down), but they are cheap though.... and i try to be unbias when it comes to cars long as they could match their price in performance, durability/reliability, and styling, and cav just doesn't match up

Why dont you guys get your facts straight 1st!!! 1/4mile and 0-60 times for MOST stock cars out there in ALPHABETICAL order!

looking through that list i can see quite a few unrealistic times.

EVOLZ24 02-23-2006 07:02 PM

k I'm jumping in!

Nontoxic- How do you know that the cavalier is unreliable? Have you ever owned one before? They are also not the fastest car out there, but they do the job.

I know Im going to get flamed for this but I own 2 cavalier right now. I have a 97 2.2, that has 345.000km's on it... I replaced the engine at 280.000km. from a blown headgasket. Is that unreliable? All Ive ever done is normal maintenance on it.

Please, if you've never owned " a crapalier " dont state that you know everything about them. And I'm not looking for fight now guys! Just putting my 2 cents in about the cavies!

Ok, I've looked over that list, and I'd say they are all pretty damn close. All the VW times are pretty well right on. Why are you questioning what are likely times posted by Road and Track, Car and Driver, and I saw a couple of Car Craft times? Those times are likely the fastest times acheivable by those cars. Eg:
1983 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI 10.6 17.7 That is right on.
1993 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 8.3 17.3 That sounds about right, for the weight, and power. Sooo... what's the problem?

i know for a fact that cavaqueers and sunfagots are not good cars, i work on them all the time. but the same goes for every other cars out there, they all have thier good points and bad, but when people start to fall in love with cars that are built to go shopping in and think they can't be beat makes me laugh.

EVOLZ24 02-23-2006 07:31 PM

cavaqueers? LOL. You work on them all the time? Do you work at a GM dealership or something? Just curious.

Your right, theres always the chance of coming across a lemon....

RICO 02-23-2006 07:39 PM

a garage that works on mostly gm's, there are worst cars from gm out there but they still hold there own with problems, but like i said every car does.

EVOLZ24 02-23-2006 07:45 PM

Just like your Mustang

I drive a 01 Z24 and I can say that yes they have there share of problems..but for what i payed who cares, its a car not a race car. Just so everyone knows the Z24 is a decently quick car for the money, comparable to the Civic SIR. They are able to run anywhere from high 15s to low 15s and yes i have seen low 15 runs with just intake. It can hold its own agaist a good amount of cars but it is in no way fast. The people who drive the car like it is are just plain rediculous this car was designed to get from point a to point b. If you wanna see some quick Jbodies go check out jbody.org and look for hypsy or skillz or even Hanh. The people on the board will even admit to the problems with these cars. Not bashing on anyone here just informing.

The low 15 sec passes may be becasue of factory freaks, but other than that they are capeable of those times, just check out the.org, and yes i have 111000 kms on my cav and its doing fine, better than i expected thats for sure.
