If the 400 was tuned, if the camaro was lighter, if the camaro had a jetpack and a stargate in front of it... if if if :)

Who cares, nice work of a sled :)

thats funny... cause i watched a Camaro get eaten by a Honda Civic Si(2006-2008). And Yes the SI was modded but with no turbo... and the Cam was V8... they were side by site, but the SI raped it on the top end. So yes it is power to weight ratio... go watch some youtube videos on Skylines. They do drag racing in the rain, can your built 400 do that?

LMFAO @ 2TONE_93GT... that post was funny!

mshred 09-22-2008 05:09 PM

before i say anything, i am into musclecars yes, but it doesnt mean i dont respect other cars...everyone has their taste, but dont go bashing with totally fake facts about the brands you dont like to try to make yours the best

2tone_93gt, i dont really care about what if's, just pointing out since there was a earlier discussion on the 400 big block in the thread...definatly not a chevy guy so no defense for camaros

and to JayDeHem_CL9, its guys like you who totally kill me....i know skylines are fast, wasnt denying that....and really drag racing in the rain? what the hell does that have to do with anything, especially the displacement of the motor? what cuz skylines have 4 wheel drive? big deal lol....whoever races in the rain, dragging anyways, is stupid anyways...you say you saw a civic racing a camaro...civic was probably souped up extensively and the camaro was probably stock, and even still i hope the civic did pull in the top end since thats where honda engines are at their prime...and who says that you need a turbo to go fast? if i have a turbo im good against anything now? people watch tooo many youtube vids with extensively modified cars against near stock cars and then automatically assume that certain models are beasts, and certain are dogs....and too many place soo much emphasis on power to weight- yes that is important no denying, but theres no replacement for displacement...when it comes down to it, just watch an episode of pinks or take a trip to the local strip....with a totally souped up domestic against a totaly souped up import, ive yet to see the riceball win

Uh most gtr's are awd. GTS is the rwd version.

GLI 09-24-2008 12:53 AM

old GTR's can be rwd or awd, new GTR's are awd...

and appearently according to the video vipers are wood...

mshred 09-24-2008 09:14 AM

im not speaking on behalf of exotics....a viper with nitrous isnt a drag car, but obviously that civic with turbo was....im talking about muscle versus rice....ive yet to see the rice win...civic beats viper, beats mustang, beats camaro, blah blah blah....thats all youtube videos these days....now lets see that civic beat a dart with a big block, 4.10 gears on a minitub, a 3500 stall converter (just as an example of a real street/ strip car)....a real musclecar that for the cost of all those parts for everything, a honda would need to put all that money in the engine....ive yet to see that race where domestic loses....don't get me wrong, imports can definatly go when done right, but all of this stuff that civic's are god's gift to the road is ridiculous

Nuckingfutzz 09-24-2008 02:44 PM

WOW this thread went right off the deep end. MSHRED I know wher your coming from, but a drag car and a street car are 2 different evil's in the world of domestics. USUALLY a domestic especially a classic muscle car has a fine line whether its a drag or street car(usually purpose built). The Imports have made that line bigger with turbo's, standalone EMS's and just as many aftermarket parts you can think of.

The original thread was a skyline beating a camaro it can happen.
I have two friends one has a Viper stock other than exhaust, the other has a 240sx with about $6K into the motor (both legal street cars guess who's faster) anyone can get beat on the street.

Also the start of a race can have a big effect on the outcome. Some cars like to start hard others like the top end, some have an advantage from a roll others from a dig.

All I'm getting at it is everyone can be beat and there is always an excuse for the loser. Suck it up and race again, if you don't like it go online and bitch.

mshred 09-24-2008 10:07 PM

nuckingfutzz you said it perfectly....it all depends whats done to the car....thats why there shouldnt be bashing on what will beat what, because if thers things done to each that make the playing field unfair, i would hope the one that was more intensely modified would somehow win....either way, i think the discussion is over....lets just all go back to loving the cars we do and cruising the hell out of them around TO

ae86kid86 09-25-2008 05:22 PM

exactly i said i beat him but next time it might be different ps gf made me give up 2drs but i need a american car next after the passat cc dumped gf im leaning towards corvette or camaro but i got a 572 big block gas moter and 2 355mm mickeys street\drag tires which ones better for dragin

Thats a no brainer the camaro with a 572 would eat the corvette, and for drag racing the straight axel is much much better.

wow this thread did go the wrong way... how does it matter whats done to the car? A viper: 450HP+, limited slip diff, 6 spd close ratio, forged internals, V10 8L (ALL STOCK), built civic for drag: 450 HP, not half as much torque, maybe b series with a LSD tranny, built motor... i think the Viper should win if this was the case. the viper was built with racing in mind, it has nothing to do with buying a stock car and souping it up. civics are not fast out the box and are nothing compared to vipers... i dont have anything thing against domestics, but i prefer imports, but the viper had his ass handed to him, and yes lets go back to loving cars.

and its not people like me, . every Market of cars are built differently with the companies own purpose in mind. this whole thing started because someone said what if the Camaro was built... what if both cars were built, no one knows who would have won... nevertheless, it does matter now. it happed, its DONE

at the end of the day, a win is a win. depends on how hard one drive tries to win, and how the other may care about his care and not want to push it too hard, and as Nuckingfutzz said, some cars have advantage from a roll, from a dig, and top end or w.e.... civics suck from a dig cause of FWD compared to RWD, but from a roll, different story... but oh well, every car is built differently, and i am sorry mshred because you were clearly offended

mshred 09-29-2008 11:35 AM

you know i wasnt offended...i think this thread was just a misunderstanding of certain comments...when its all said and done, cars are built for different purposes and i think we all know that...let the best man win

the old ones yeah. Rumors say The new ones have a blackbox similar to planes. Tracks/stores everything you do... from speeding, not wearing your belt, driving without letting it warmup, even how you use the brakes.

Pretty sure they do, I was told someone cancelled there order because of this lol.

Which sucks...
