Had some fun with a Porsche and a Hemi this weekend

Yeah, I lost to both, but it was cool. I got both of them at stop lights so I got to see the launch on both. For the Porsche I had a better reaction and had him to 20 feet then he foot by foot pulled away from me. And for the Hemi, it was a brand new Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi. It was rainy out for this one, so when the light when green we sat there spinning forever, when we finally caught ground the hemi pulled away from me a little less than foot by foot. Haha ... My girlfriend didn't understand why I lost to a truck, I was like "You know that commercial where they are like 'yeah, its a hemi' .... YEAH, THAT WAS A HEMI. He's got about 150 more horses than me" Haha...

Yeah, it was a pretty good weekend. Turns out I know the guy with the Porsche so I'm going to find out what kind it was. Anyway, loosing to cool cars is fun.

oh yeah.. i thought you would have beat the porsche

anyway.. why would you floor it in the rain? you should have lightly pressed, and you would have at least beat him off the line.

I got a chance to drive my friends Porsche Boxster. Its pretty nice, the Flat 6 puts out like 230 horses. But I don't think it has much torque, the engine wants to stall out on those things unless you launch at 4k+ rpms.

The Boxster is also light as hell so thats a big advantage right there.

Haha, I knew I was going to get smoked by the porsche, but it actually wasn't that bad. And about the Hemi race in the rain, I never said I floored it. I actually did slightly press the pedal. It went like this: Touch pedal, slip, let off pedal to catch, touch pedal, slip, let off, slowly accelerate until had full tire contact then pushed her down. And we were about equal till about 10 feet down.

Yeah, I agree about the Porsches. I think they are one of the cooler foreign sports cars for sure. American muscle still rules all, but Porsches are pretty sweet. Expecially the 911 Turbo's.

You applied a little more than enough pressure if you were "spinning forever"

I guess I applied too much exaggeration and enthusiasm in the post and didn't care enough to write down the precise amount of tire spin that occured. I'd definately call pushing the pedal a little, spinning, letting off, pushing it a little and spinning more a FAIR amount of spinning. Sorry if I threw you off by saying "forever".

And about the type of Porsche, I'm not sure yet. It definately wasn't a brand new one. Turns out my friend knows the guy, so I will find out as soon as I can.
