new kill....

my buddy owns a 2000 mustang gt (5-speed) and told me that after he got his offroad x-pipe on that we should race. I gladly agreed and a couple of days ago we finally lined em up. from a dead start he was dead even w/ me possibly even a little ahead, 2nd i started pulling and by the end of third i was a full car in front of him. i would have kept gaining in 4th but i decided to shut it down. i talked to him after the race and he said that he was powershifting every gear. it was a fun race, just enough to get my daily adrenaline fix.

GTs suck. Camaro V6s can take them.

SLPowerZ 02-18-2005 11:23 PM

hmmm...thats not good than cause i didn''t beat him by all that much

a kill is a kill, so all kills are good...also, my Spirit is turbo'd... ;)

SLPowerZ 02-19-2005 12:00 AM

agreed. well that does make me feel so bad then. :)

SOMBirdV6 02-19-2005 12:55 AM

GTs arent anything special, espically for the LT1. As grant said a 5spd 3.8l can stay with a GT Stang easy. Now an 05 GT now thats LS1 territory.

JimmyFrance 02-27-2005 01:55 AM

Yah cause theres a guy with a 1995 stang gt manual 5 talking so much trash, i debated racing him just toshow him my cars more than a "***** little v6", but those bastards have 288 ft lbs of torque. yikes.

SLPowerZ 02-27-2005 02:19 AM

95 still had the 5.0, i think those cars ran like mid to low 15s stock, possibly a little quicker depending on the driver. do u know if that guy has any mods

nope, bone stock.

imported_blade 02-27-2005 03:40 AM

so...i've driven a 3.8, and i guarantee my car is faster. so i'd prolly be able to take some 90's stangs? SWEET!!

SLPowerZ 02-27-2005 12:48 PM

ya i dunno if those are the exact times but my buddy has a 94 gt, 5.0 5 speed, and after he got his short throw shifter, flowmaster catback, and 3:73 gears he ran a 14.8. so one w/ no mods should be somewhere in the 15s

Camarocam 02-27-2005 12:54 PM

I just need a little more power. I think my car will run high to mid 15's with a good start and it shifting into third. The tranny cooler I installed help a little with the 2-3 shift I can depress the throttle more now with out it jumping back down into 2 so I cant wait till march 18 casue we are all going to the drag strip. :)

SLPowerZ 02-27-2005 02:00 PM

awesome dude, let me know how u do

i think you should run at least a low 15 maybe high 14.

nope. 305's arent that fast. you think theyre way faster than they are.

SLPowerZ 02-27-2005 09:16 PM

what kinda power do they make?

jamilz28 02-27-2005 11:13 PM

my dads blazer can beet an auto 94 gt

archemedes 02-27-2005 11:59 PM

305 was around 250 hp with the ho package regualr was from 125 to 200 depending on year

Camarocam 02-28-2005 12:36 AM

I dont think mine has 250Hp I think more like 220 it is a 84 there were rated at 210 I belive? but I ran a 16.6 last time but it was my first time on a drag strip and I could'nt get traction off the line and about 75 feet before the end my car started redlining in 2 and would'nt shift into third.

What do the new Hemis run in the 1/4 cause I raced one today and we were dead even.

archemedes 02-28-2005 10:13 PM

the full size trucks are slow they are geared for towing

JimmyFrance 03-01-2005 06:36 PM

yah thats weird. i raced my friends new hemi dodge ram and i beat it by a good car length. from a stop.

Camarocam 03-01-2005 10:43 PM

well he did get the jump on me and my car was running like crap but we were dead even my car is SLOW. I am going to get a set of head and get my friend with a flowbench to help my port them and I hope that will help my car lots.

red9450 03-24-2005 11:59 PM

I do own a 94 GT which at one point was slow when it was stock, but not as slow as it was made out to be. If it's any kind of comparison, I ran a 88 Vette, and he got half a car on me, which is respectable i suppose. but the comment about blazers......??????? u sure u didn't drop that motor from ur camaro in it? lol because stock, I would get pulled hard after I hit 3rd gear, and loose by about 3 cars, but never beat by a blazer.
