Im thinking of starting a new project, a 1996 mazda protege. A 1.8t engine swap is what i was thinking, (I have already found one). I will need IC piping and exhaust piping done, does anyone have an idea of where to go for this?

Also, I do not see many of these being built like this, what do I do for the ecu, I want to put a 16g turbo on the engine and I don't want a check engine light. Any information or websites would be greatly appreciated.

IMO you could check out the Toronto Mazda 3 forum and site. There's a wealth of info and great members who can assist and provide more info. Just a thought.

You're gonna wanna go to www.clubprotege.com and www.feoa.net (ford escorts more than pro's, but both cars take well to the 1.8t (GTX) swap).

For the ECU, you can run an escort GT ecu with some modifications, or get a 323 gtx ecu from ebay or some members selling them. Usually go for around 200-225 or so shipped.

Not sure how to put a 16g on there, but the stock turbo manifold fits a VJ-20 turbo, and if you want more power, you can put on a VJ-23 turbo (if you can find one), or just swap in a GTR motor, as opposed to the GTX. The GTR is more expensive, bigger turbo, different internals, ecu etc, but is very hard to come across.
