Any DSM owners using GM MAF sensors?

Well?

Are there any DSM owners on this board using a GM MAF sensor and a MAF-translator?

I am looking into using this setup, but it is fairly new to the MK3 Supra scene. So what are you experiences with it if you have used one. Thanks.

I have one too. I didnt know they were breaking into the Supra market. cool.

Its a great tool. I have mine in blow-thru setup so I can run just a turbo to each filter and measure on the pressure side. works great, but make sure your turbo isnt blowing oil, as it can get on the sensor and gum it up.

ITs great for adapting to larger injectors, but the fine tuning is a little weak. Seems to be pretty big increments in the adjustments, and weather hanges can affect your tune. Ultimately it would be best to run an AFC as well, but then you are running a piggyback on top of a piggyback, and it gets a little much. Im only using the MAFT for tuning now and it took 0.2sec of my quarter.
Keep an eye on your SENSORS! what are you using to datalog/read engine conditions?

EDIT: your turbo will be twice as loud and the BOV will be louder too. Tells me its moving alot more air.

I will be using an AFC for tuning and zeitronix wideband to monitor everything. With all the money I am spending on piggybacks I could afford an AEM EMS, but its to late for that now.

Do you know of any problems people have run into with the MAF-T setup? Faulty readings or lean conditions from the translator not doing its job correctly?

As far as noise goes, my turbo is already horrificly loud (anti-surge) as well as having a vented external wastegate.

I can take a look at it and try to get a good street tune, if you need it. You have a datalogger? Are you 1st gen?

blackout_89t:
Havent heard of any real problems. Other than holding a tune over seasons. I would recommend zeroing the settings (or set to the proper correction if you are using larger injectors) and using your AFC for fine-tuning adjustment. I extended the wires and have the box inside the armrest for on-the-fly tuning, but if you arlready have an AFC, just do a set-it-and-forget-it on the MAFT, and leave it underhood. Is your stock MAS a karman-vortex (Frequency output) or mass airflow (Voltage output)?

Stock AFM is Karman Herz.

I am using 680cc injectors.

Thanks for the info!

No problem. I say go for it. Heres a picture of my setup. Using the 3" in blo-thru to keep the velocity up. (those are crappy clamps. If you are going over 15psi, get proper silicone couplers. These things blew apart a few times.)

Mitsu, if you are going to the DSM Yorkdale meet on the first sunday of April, I will be there, and could go for a run with you.

Interesting. I didnt know the S-AFC had that capability. That would be great for me as i could have one MAF on each turbo, but like he mentioned, timing would be through the roof as its only seeing half the actual airflow. Advanced timing and 15psi is a bad combination.
would probably work great for an N/A car though.
Hmmm, I should look into that. Maybe someone else would be brave enough to try it out first

Waitaminute, it shouldent average the output, it should ADD them???
"then in Sensor CALC mode you go IN 2 Out Ave (average of the 2)."

I am going to have some problems since my injectors are 65% larger than stock, better flowing pump, larger I.D. fuel lines and stock ECU. I will have to take out so much fuel to make the bitch idle. Not to mention the homemade intake manifold, that should make for an even more interesting idle...
