Scuffs on my helmet?

My grandfather gave me a vintage helmet that I would like to display. It has a few scuffs from storage that I would like to buff out. Any suggestions on how to go about doing this?

Display as is, you shouldn't ride with a damaged helmet.

I would take it to a bowling alley, and talk to someone there. They might have a way to clean and polish it without damaging it.

Just like furniture. The best value does seem to come from the wear marks ;humans leave behind in their trek through...Might be nice to find pics of the wearer....
