anyone familar with the program Nistune , coming out of australia ...pros/cons vs something like megasquirt... roughly both are 500 $ ballpark. willl be installed on my ca18det, with the upcoming change of 555cc injectors and a z32 maf. already running a t28bb , and supporting mods

Not familiar with it but for that price I would source a used powerFC. Im sure you can get one for the CA for around 800. Probably a little more than you want to spend but well worth the investment.
