RB26DET hp upgrades
 

i've decided to swap my 240 sx with the rb26det and i'm just wondering what is the best way to tap the power outta this engine i've decided to throw some some money at the drive train around 8000 cdn after the drive train purchase what should i expect from a performance shop for this range thanx for your help

if so, i would recommend a mac truck turbo.

I hope the shop that is doing your swap has done atleast one before. Otherwise, i will also attempt it for half the cost. I'll have her donr in 2 weeks.

sorry my bad i just could not remember the code the engine i've been thinking about is the RB25DET and you can purchase them for between 2500-5000 US i was just wondering what kind of upgrades i could expect for 8000 cdn i also heard that putting this drive train in would weigh down the car and effect handling in a really bad way is this true? thanks for your help

its a very simple method with boosted motors to get great power out of them

I say upgrade the ECU
nice set of injectors 600cc's or so
good intercooler piping and intercooler to densen the charge
Upgrade your turbo i say ar least a nice GARRETT GT28R ball bearing turbo
nice manifold and exhaust to improve flow
Clutch flywheel plugs wiring cap rotor fuel pump filter regulator boost gauge
Wastegate
Blow-Off valve
Soo many options but its simple in theory the more air more gas more POWER!

People always talk big...

Why don't you get the motor first... and then worry about the upgrade you are going to do... Less talking , and more doing... thats usually how it works..

You don't have to worry upgrading this motor, it can handle more then enough - in other words you don't have enough money to push the motor in stock form to it's limits...

So come back when u have the motor running in your car.

Do you even know what is required to get the engine into your car in the first place?

Like someone else said, easiest way to get power out of a turbo car:

Turbo upgrade: A ballbearing t3 would be nice or a t3/to4e...
FMIC
Turbo Manifold upgrade
3 or 4" exaust
Bigger injectors, atleast 850cc
Stand alone engine management...

That should be a good start.

Go research sites that specialize in these kind of motors. (such as gtrcanada.com)

thanx guys that sites not bad i've been goin back and forth on the drive train but really want the r33 drive train i've got a few xtra dollars so i don't wanna half ass any of the project i hope to be at 240 meet after 6-8 months

why don't you buy an sr and be like everyone else...

the reason i want a rb25det is because of the sound/powerband and the top speed just cause i make one typo does't mean i'm a stupid and i also know that this is't gonna be cheap(i do know that) i could just get sr20det but its just not what i want people think i'm dumb for putting this much cash into a 240sx but its just my fav... car since i was a kid and maybe some of u dumb s should read the whole post and understand it was a typo before flaming me

and clearly have no power..."--- dip those r to different engines a rb25det is a inline 6 and the srd20 what ever u ment is a inline four correct me if i'm wrong i think the rb25det has decent power to stock(after some bolt ons bigger turbo and injecters exhaust etc... it willl be a quik ride) especailly when u put it in a light weight car like 240 sx my q is just has anyone had experience tuning this engine what kinda turbo did u use? what worked best for u etc... ? thanx for your help

That's good you want to learn about turbos..

And I usualy don't post without having something useful to say as well... BUT there are cases like these where I tell people the hard truth... And if you look @ my post.. it's the truth. The kid is a DREAMER, and asking vauge questions like "What can I do to my RB26DETT" when the kid doesn't even have it, let alone have one running in his car. Then it's just a big waste of time... just like this thread.

the big problem with them is that they are set up for 4 wheel drive like s13 gotboost stated earlier...
you put it into a FWD car like the 240 and the power distribution gets all buggered up.
