2006 Pontiac Pursuit - Starting Problems
Hi!
I drive a 2006 Pontiac Pursuit GT and recently noticed a power draw when I turn my defrost on. The headlights dim and so do the dash lights. I have taken it to the "stealership" three times already and they won't listen to me. I keep telling them to check the alternator. They have checked the starter 3 times and no problem there. Anyone else experience this problem? I even pulled my projectors and HIDs and even with stock I'm still having this problem.
Thanks.

I'm no help but I also drive a G5 but it's a base model. Had it since brand new and never had a problem.
OK so still no help really BUT I did pay attention to what my car did this morning when putting on the rear defogger. It did dim down a bit but bounced right back up immediately. Maybe they all do it?

After 4 trips and them telling me it's not the starter, they diagnosed it as a solenoid in the starter that is going.
If I could afford anything other than a GM I would.

WTF drugs are they on? Why don't you tell them the issue stems from not rotating your tires !!!
Do they have more then 2 brain cells?
Starter solenoid has no affect to your issue with defroster. Solenoid only affect starter ( starting the car ) Uness the starter solenoid is polarized at all times causing a leech in the power supply, but than your starter would be engaged at all times and you'll hear a rancid grinding ( like when you overcrank )
when your lights dim from defroster coming on.. in some cars thats common while idleing since it lacks the rpm on the alternator ( and or low amp alternator ) to produce the necessary current. When you bring the rpm up in idle.. does your light and everything else go to normal illumination? IT could be either the way it's design and or one of the three phase of the alternator going. The other possibility is the battery itself. When its on its way out.. it doesn't hold sufficient charge so all the load is going straight to the alternator. So either battery or alternator or just the way its designed.
