Suspension Problems ?

Suspension Problems ?
Does anyone have any thoughts on this ? I got a 03 Grand Prix, and i found that when I accelerate from a standing stop, sometimes when I got my wheels turned, typically on uneven surface - for example, when backing up from the driveway, and then straightening, and starting to move, hear a single thump sound. And then nothing. Seems like it when the front raises a bit, and comes down during acceleration. Obviously only can hear it when I accelerate slowly, keeping the engine and muffler noise at a minimum.
Mechanic said it was probable the suspension and I can drive until it gets more noticeable or I want to change it. Sound is coming from the front ? Ball joins (lower and upper) look fine.
Maybe it had to do with a small wipe out and curb hit during winter my significant other had in the winter - doh. No problem, it happens. Just wondering what it could be, and how much the repair can be.
Thanks
