MAF

ok i just have to say...anyone who wastes money on an aftermarket MAF is an idiot. i saw some guy showing me the new one to the stock one, with the screen on, and was like look at the difference! if you take the screen off there is hardly a difference at all. woo-hoo, you spent $250 on something that cost me $0.

When I first bought my LS1 I looked into them and people have had so many problems with aftermarket ones messing up the air/fuel ratio as well and because of them they make tuning really hard. Such a waste of money.

HUGE waste of money. Descreen the stock one and BOOM! aftermarket.

well first of all matt, yours doesnt have one. second, theres only one screen. and as for good or bad, i look at it this way, if the air filter element has smaller holes than the MAF screen, its unnecessary to have a screen there. and it takes not even 30 seconds to take it out, descreen it, and pop it back in. just DONT **** up the wires

a few cars will get a rough idle, that's the only bad effect I've heard, and that is only about 10% so don't damage it, and if you get the bad idle put it back

A benefit that the screens have is that they smooth out the air comin in so the MAF gets (in theory) a more accurate reading of the air comin in.

I know for a fact that if you take the piping of in front of the MAF and think you are going to make more power you are wasting your time. We tried it on the dyno- unhooked the CAI and lost 20hp.

Caleb- you can go one step further and de-vane the MAF as well. Just need a hack-saw and a dremel tool and you will be all set.
