clearcoat on rims is peeling

the clear coat on my rims is peeling off and it looks like crap. I do not have any money for new rims. i was thinking about lightly sand blasting them and then painting them, but i dont know what the outcome would look like. anyone ever done this ? any other suggestions ?

From my experience, the only way to make a rim really look decent is to have it powdercoated. Rattlecan just wont cut it, and I may be wrong, but I doubt you'll find a paint you can use in a spraygun that will work at that high temp with some kind of ceramic in it.

I'd just get new rims. I mean cmon, $400 for a new set of rims, you gotta have 400 somewhere

Powder coat will run you around $100 a wheel. If your wheels look like crap you really have nothing to lose. I would wet sand and re clear coat first and if that doesn't look good then spray paint them with high temp gloss black. It won't be show quaility but if you do a good job with the prep work they will last for at least a year or two maybe even longer untill you can buy some new ones...

My buddy did this to his stock 02 firebird wheels and they still look about the same and its been 3 years ...lol
