Cutting springs is not as bad as people think, as long as it's a reasonable drop.

Thats worst then cutting them, either way the spring isnt designed for that, its made to be used in whole, i ve heard from ppl that the ride is fine but others can be pretty dangerous, just get coilovers

chopped spring reply

its not good to chop them, some springs have different spring rates, if its progressive the ride is damaging to the front end.some manufactures make chop-able srings .they have the same spring rate in the coils so you can chop them to fit.

thank you, thats what i wanted to say but i could find the words to do it lol

and just to ad the differences between progressive and "chop-able" springs, progressive springs have different gaps between the coils, the gaps get shorter near the end of the coil, so that the first part of the coil is not as firm(with the gaps further apart) and the last bit it firmer(shorter gaps), non-progressive the space between the coils are equal

Get spring compressors from princess auto. basically two hooks on a threaded rod, compress them to the height you want, go to your kitchen. 450 for 4 hours in the oven, don't cut them.

^ Canadian tire gives out coil spring compressors for free

Put a deposit, return it in 3 days, get your money back.

For the record, the "choppable springs" you are refering to are called linear.
