1/4 run

i have a question about the 13.99 helmet thing. lets say its your first time at the track and you dont know what your car can do. if you run like 12.5 without a helmet, do they ban you, or just make you get a helmet before you run again?

unless they have changed it in the last 2 years, Iam sure its upto 12;99 ur ok w/o a helmet..but I know they made changes recently..for new cars to run roll bar-less into the 11s...mabye they tightened the helmet rule???

I`ve been going to the track for over 20 years and the helmet rule has never changed. Cayuga has been known to look the other way alot in the past. Cars in the tens with out roll bars, cars running 12s no helmet etc. Look up the rule book for IHRA and NHRA.
IHRA does have different rules than NHRA such as roll bar needed at 11.49 instead of NHRA at 11.99 but now NHRA has changed theirs to 11.49.
From Cayugas web site.
HELMET
13.99 ET OR FASTER; ALL CONVERTIBLES; SNELL 90 OR NEWER ANY VEHICLE WITH A ROLL BAR INSTALLED

Maybe one of the mods can take that link I posted to cayuga`s basic rules and make it a sticky.

Some other things I would like to add to first timers.
Dont be afraid to ask questions.
Make sure your window is up before you run.
Dont drive like a dick head through the pits or return road to show off to your friends. No one is impressed by it and there are alot of people walking around that could get hurt.
You could also get banned for doing that.
If by chance you are up beside a turbo car that is just testing. (The guys that sit for 10 seconds after the green building boost) and he is quicker than you but you beat him to the finish line, dont change lanes untill you know where he is. You may have beat him to the finish line but there is a good chance he is going to go by you at about 130 plus mph.
And please do not race through the town of Cayuga and Kolar. This includes having your stereo bass set so loud that it rattles the windows on the houses you drive by. Some of the area residents are trying to have the track shut down or restricted to other days andd times.
We dont need them to have anymore amo.
Thanks

It was my first "season" racing last summer.
It's not as hard as it looks. Just watch for 10 minutes, understand it and go.
I have an obsession now. Not like that's a bad thing.
Funny thing off topic, I almost got hit in my hatch while a car popped a wheelie off the line. coca-cola lane w00t!!1111

I race at Cayuga so that explains the helmet thing. Ive seen them turn cars away that have been 12.99 but NEVER 13.99 for not having a helmet. never paid attention to the roll bar/ETs before.....but have seen a 10.60 mustang convertible make 3 passes (wheels up 1-2ft) w/o anything before getting kicked the **** out !!! LOL
