A better place to look for and ask about sanctioned local autoslalom (solo racing) events and other solo racing info is at http://casc.on.ca/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=21 .

Also, the official CASC Solo2 page at http://solo2.casc.on.ca/index.php .

Toronto Star article for Saturday's event at http://www.thestar.com/Wheels/article/207699

Do I have to have a helmet, I am new. It's not like I will crash into somebody or flip over (my car is stiff and lowered, not going to roll or bounce and flip heh, only slide maybe).

I can't afford to buy a helmet now

You'll need a helmet at any sanctioned event.

I've seen two roll overs at solo events over the years, and a couple of other crashes too. It doesn't happen often, but it can...

Last year, several cars were badly damaged in an Alberta meet when the driver of a car entering the stop block got the gas and brake pedals on a borrowed car screwed up. The borrowed car was a new Corvette. The cars that the Corvette ran into included a new Porsche, a new Celica, a new Mini, and a couple of other cars. Try to park away from the stop box.

You should be able to get a basic HJC open face helmets for around $75 or less if you shop around. Try Cycle World West in Toronto, or maybe Rider's Choice in Mississauga.

Canadian Tire has a Bell full-face for $149.

If you get an open-face helmet, make sure it is at least a 3/4 helmet. The half-helmets or beanies that some motorcycle cruiser riders wear are not sufficient.

Also, make sure the helmet is DOT or SNELL approved for highway use. Snowmobile or off-road helmets often do not meet those approval standards.
