GTCars track meet?

Who would be interested? I'm thinking about Mosport, and or Cayuga. Post in here if you'd be interested. I'll call the track, and get pricing, and the cost will be split between all of us equally. :smilie_da

Thanks for the quick reply pm...

Count me down for Cayuga... Depending on the day of course.. But I'm sure I can come up with a good excuse... LOL

It would likely have to be a Saturday.

You won't get the Mosport big track on a Saturday unless you're willing to take real early April or some date in November. All the other weekend dates are already long sold.

You also wouldn't get Mosport unless you also arranged insurance, track marshals, ambulance and medical services. Figure on paying somewhere between $6 to $10 G for the experience depending on the current rental rates for the date booked, plus this year's insurance hit, plus marshals' pay and their lunches, plus ambulance and staff rental, plus tow truck. Did I mrntion that all these expenses are rain or shine?

The alternative is to just go on one of the already-booked track days and let them deal with the organizational hassles. Dexter Motorsport has a number already booked. Book early and get substantial discounts.

But wait a minute! The Mosport track means not only standing on the gas, but learning to do control braking AND turning left or right or right then left or left then right, and all that often in in rapid succession and maybe even in teh wet. It would probably be just too much for some of the "drivers" here.

I 100% agree you def do not want to take first timers out to Mosport. Ur best bet would be Nelson or FABI at shannonville. Also rates are jacked up for weekends on any track.

Also I will warn you. If you go to Mosport someone will lose there car. It happens alot at that track as it is just to fast for most peoples skill level.

Unless your talking DDT I would not consider Mosport for a first event

X_LUDWIK_X 02-15-2006 07:51 AM

And that's basiclly why I didn't pick mosport... It would be my first time at a "racing" event and I'm just to much of a shitty driver to even consider circuit racing.. :retard:

Not that drag racing doesn't take skill.... I just flat out don't want to wreck anybody's car because of some newb. :lmao:

You and I could have a good battle for a couple of laps. I'm just seeing who would be interested. I'd love to get a bunch of us who's cars are actually capable of running on a road course, and who can actually drive. If there's not enough interest in Mosport, we'll do Cayuga or the Bend. I personally hope to get to Mosport sometime this year, and I know it's a very technical track, but that's why I like it.
If anyone is interested in going to Cayuga, well, that's a lot easier to set up, and most of us have already been. Unfortunatley, the MTO, and the OPP like to set up checks there, but such is life. I don't have problems passing inspections.
As for Shannonville, or a different track, if there are enough people interested, we can figure out where we want to go later. I just want to see how many would go, before I go to all the work of setting it up.

Hey man, long time no see.
Yes, I agree that getting into any track on a Saturday would be hard, and Mosport was just the first one I thought of, because I've done a lot of autocross, and rallying, and well, it's not an easy track. Like I said, I'm just putting out a feeler as to how many would go, and honestly aside from about 6 of us, there aren't too many who would even want to road race.

We took him to Cayuga for the IHRA Canadian nats. He loved it, and didn't even make it out of the parking lot. I wish I'd had a digicam then.
