Looks like we may as well just go to a test and tune. Then, if some want to go to Shannonville or something, we'll figure that out. 10 people, and all that talk, no one will back it up. , I'll go with my stock 1983 rabbit GTI. I don't care if I get my ass handed to me. Let's just f ing race. :smilie_da

Thats true but most of the time when ever I go to the track everybody is good to each other, Also there are many different cars and different prep levels. Whenever I went to a drag strip I allways had a feeling like I am being judged because I was driving a stock car but at a track or an autocross most people are in the same boat stock or modified they don't care they just want to be on the track, having said that there is allways some noob(not a new guy) that thinks his is the prettiest flower planted on the ground.

My best track day was at a SRR(some import tuning company) lapping day/time trial at Shannonville. I went with the idea of having fun and when I got there it had been raining and it was still overcast with a heavy dew, I had a set of Toyo RA1s to put on my stock Z24. All moring we ran the full track and then near lunch they switched the track to the pro circut for the TT. The TT was one warm up one hot lap and then a cool down lap. since the track was wet and I had what have turned out to be the best rain tire that I have ever used I managed to catch the person that went on the track ahead of me and pass him right before the finish line. I ended up 2 seconds off the time of the first place pro guy(driving a RSX type S done up like a JDM type R) and first in the Amature group and won a set of shocks for a Honda  the best part was being asked by one of the guy who organised the day what I had done to the car "aaaaaaa I have a muffler,K&N drop in filter and RA1s" Him "thats it?"

Not sure if its the Scottish in me or if I just like playing in the rain(the great equalizer)

Just run different groups...

People who have experience and are hot shots - Group RED

People who have experience but aren't hot shots - Group Yellow

People who are new and are looking to get experienced - Group Green

Its all fun if you manage it properly... Most people start coming out after 15 to 20 minutes lapping... Set it up so that as the first group is coming in, the second is getting out, then the third... Every group gets about 15 minutes or run and 30 minutes of cool down...

You're brakes will thank you, so will you suspension and lets not forget about you mind and body...

Just segregate it and open it up for everyone...

Hell, I'll even bring my bling TDI for this... :D

:lmao:

I think two groups at the most would be good, green group would have point to pass or signal and the second group would be pass when ever but have all passing for either group start and end on straights no passing on or in corners.

kyriian 03-11-2006 11:40 PM

key is as long as everyone knows that the person ahead MUST let the one behind pass.... that's always golden rule number one

as well as designate passing zones... another good one, granted.. some tracks like mosport its not so easy for say.. a great driver in a corolla to pass a newbie in an M3....

ModSpec 03-12-2006 11:53 AM

Two groups are fine...

You can have a rule that no one can pass in corners or passing is only allowed in the straights...

how many laps do you guys get with that cost? Also, are there any safety reqs for cars, like roll cages or some sort. im not talking about brakes etc. cause cars that could not meet safety standards should definately be racing.

shuller1458 04-09-2006 07:26 PM

So what is the day? what about price?

i dont think many of us are drivin cars that need a rollcage... that said, if you dont have one, know your limits and you'd be fine

Depends on how fast your car is... If your car is heavily modified and is able to reach very high speeds, you will be required... otherwise it won't be neccesary...

Being said that, most of the time its the organizers that are and won't let someone run without a roll cage...
