Hi Rick,

My name is Anna and I'm the director of SGR Miss Shift Racing Division.

I'm very happy that you were able to make it out to our Charity Car Wash and Dyno Day this past weekend and had a great time. However, I would like to inquire about your marketing practices for your website. I have tried emailing you at your gtcars.ca addy but have not received a response. Hopefully you will see this here...

Last week I made a post regarding our Charity Car Wash and Dyno Day on your forum. A few days later, I get this message:

you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page or you may not have enough posts to post in the classifieds, you need 10 posts total. Try posting in the other sections of the forum. If the posts are one liners or spam you may be banned, so put some effort into it. Accounts update every 15 minutes.
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account."
Searching for the words "SGR," "sweetie girl racing" and "car wash" were unsuccessfull as well. As a result, I'm drawn to the conclusion that my post was either deleted and/or moved to a private forum. I realize that it may be considered an illegal "advertisement" by some but we have posted our event here in the past with no problems. >> 2006 post

So can you please explain to me why you're using our event photos to exploit us to promote your website in various car communities, when you were not willing to promote our event in the first place?

Hi Anna. Thanks for the public inquiry, I will be happy to respond here.

While we do our best to respond to every inquiry that comes to the site, sometimes we just don’t have the time to answer every question.
I do recall reading your PDF, I do recall not replying. Sorry, 15 days is just not ample time to sit down and create a partnership between 2 communities, but I should have followed up. But really, it shouldn’t be of an issue at this moment.
The PDF as I look at it now, was not even accurate in the location date or time, unless this is not the one I am supposed to be seeing, regardless. Sorry about not responding.

In regards to your post.
Your initial post was a violation of our commercial posting policies, the same policy you agreed to when you signed up. That is the policy, that being said…..
While your post wasn’t necessarily not wanted, the misinformation was misleading to our community.
You actively promoted the event to be hosted at JRP in both post and the pdf I have, JRP is not an affiliate to our community even.
Again, that not being the big issue here, your poster promoting your event with aprox 12 vendors (only one which we do business with) was cause for concern for some people. Again, for a charity event it would not have been a big issue to me.
I am guessing the moderator who moved your post felt it was commercial, looking at the 2006 poster vs 2007, I would have said the same thing. Again, I would have likely left it, stickied it, but I wasn’t the person that moved it.
A private message to any of the staff on the forum would have resolved in a senior admin contacting you (not me likely) but you would have gotten all your answers and promotion.

Now onto the real juice of your post. While it was your event these are my pictures that were taken at a public event. So to be clear, I took the pictures because I was invited to the show to do so by a contact at Tag Racecraft, the host for your event.
Now while there may be a disconnect in regards to motive of me being invited there to take pics, be it promoting SGR and or TAG, either way I was there to capture this event. This is what GTcars does for the scene. We do what other sites don’t do, we show the people who couldn’t make it how great of an event it was.

You use the term exploit which is somewhat undermining of the whole philosophy of GTcars. Our goal has always been to work with people, their events and shows to promote for the future. These pictures taken are now a historical record of how good the event was, no different than our communications in the thread.
So again, to be clear, these are GTcars’ event photos. Now while I appreciate the opportunity to shoot the event, and I was more than happy to have a quick movie made, photos hosted and promoted YOUR CAR CLUB and YOUR EVENT (post mind you) this type of post is a first from a car club or any representative. In most instances people are happy we captured the event.

Again, I am more than happy to work with you in promoting a charity event. You could have spoken to Mel or Nap and had them call me, you could have even asked Eric at for my contact info. You could have PMd me to say the least.
Judging by your 4 posts, i imagine you're not active in the community and the sole purpose of your post was to spam it and generate as much traffic and revenue from the event, again, working with what I have.

In the future if you would like to promote an event, contact GTcars and he will be able to assist you.

I am sorry you feel that you, your friends and the event have been exploited by the largest and most active automotive forum for Ontario Canada.
I would think that this would be a step forward in reaching more people to let them know about your car club. But I don’t know, this is the first time I have ever seen someone complain.

Lastly, I actually joined your site to say Great event, because it was good.

^^ Great speaking to you Rick, I'm glad we're able to clear up our misunderstandings and move on from here forward.

We would like to thank all the people that came out to support our 5th Annual Charity Car Wash and Dyno Day last Sunday July 15 @ TAG Racecraft. The weather graced us with some amazing sunshine and blue skies all day! The turnout for the event exceeded our expectations and is reflected in our numbers. In total, we dyno'd 24 cars, washed over 60 cars and sold more than 100 hamburgers/sausages to the crowds in one single day. It was wonderful to see the large turnout that we had through out the day in support of a worthy cause!

Rob and Elena from Shining Monkey were also on hand for car care questions and demonstrations. Nick and Eric from JDM were represented well with several of their cars, along with the racing seats on display and overall having a good time. Scott from Absolute Urban was on hand laying down some Hip Hop and House tunes for us to enjoy. Also, we had some additional excitement when we featured A.J. from Compression with his Turbo Solstice, the Bully 900+hp rear wheel drive Civic and an 1000+hp 1969 Camaro all built by Tag Racecraft.

We would like to thank the members of SGR that volunteered their time to make this work. We would like to give special mention to Renata M, Opal G, Rhonda C, and Angela S for their outstanding efforts during the car wash.

We would also like to thank our additional volunteers who consistently support SGR including Richard Y, Mark G, AJ O, Jason A, Mark W (our official photographer for the SGR Car Wash), and Chris R (absolute AMAZING job providing food/cooking for our BBQ throughout the day). Each of the individuals mentioned did a great job helping set up/take down. We would also like to spend a special thank you out to Derek T from JRE who made a $100 cash donation to the cause and challenged anyone to match it!! (Note: That challenge has NOT been met, but feel free to do so online in support of Team SGR in the Run for the Cure in September 2007!)

Congratulations to the following who won in the various Dyno categories:
Top Horsepower - Power Adder Class by Tattoo's Honda Civic - 422.3 HP
Top Torque - Power Adder Class by Richard W's 350Z - 333.4 TQ
Top Horsepower - All Motor Class by Churchill's 350Z - 243.8 HP
Top Torque - All Motor Class by Michael H's Chrysler 300 - 326.8 TQ
The Dyno prizes included free CSCS Drag Racing passes, CSCS spectator passes, Grand Prix Kartway passes, Dyno time courtesy of TAG Racecraft, a sub woofer courtesy of Kicker Audio, and magazines courtesy of Performance Auto and Sound Magazine.

We also raffled off free apparel from SGR, Kicker, Shining Monkey and Performance Auto and sound Magazines, a Grand Prix Kartways karting Race suit and GPK karting passes courtesy of Grand Prix Kartways and a set of racing seats courtesy of JDM!! Congratulations to all the raffle winners!

We would like to thank our hosts, TAG Racecraft and our Product Sponsor Shining Monkey for the effort they invested in SGR and our Charity event. We would like to thank the other sponsors who supported our event by donating prizes and give-aways or by promoting our event:

Tag Racecraft

In a few days, we will be posting up more photos, videos and media coverage as well as final figures raised for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. In the meantime, we are looking for some feedback and would to hear from you! Please visit our website page here and let us know what's on your mind.

Please visit our website and check out our calendar of events for where SGR will be next! Thanks again!!
