Car Stolen/Wrecked/Gone

11 Attachment(s)
My car 3 weeks ago almost, was stolen by the guy who was painting it. It was involved in a pursuit that involved around 15 crusiers at the end.

A Sunfire plowed into him in an intersection as he began to run. He continued on that heavy damage at speeds up to 160km down markman rd. He caused another accident involving a honda civic and after that the chase was called off.

He was later found trying to change a tire he blew. Well obviously it wasn't going anywhere but i guess on shear determination he tried. The cops surrounded him and he had to be beaten down 3 times and smashed on the hood of my car to put the cuffs on. He faces at least 7 charges.

Here are some pics. RIP.

The car was almost completed. He was going to paint it that weekend. I still have no idea what he was thinking.

MaGaS 02-21-2005 11:52 AM

ouch that really sucks man!!! what did you end up doing with the car?

Supramanz 02-21-2005 11:54 AM

Claimed it and got a fair settlement. Its a total loss so it will be sold for scrap. im actively looking for another one. I am hooked on teh supra. I want another one before summer

midrange 02-21-2005 11:58 AM

man, that sucks ass.. was the painter dude private.. Gotta hate it when you think you can trust people but you can't..

i'm sure you'll find oue quick

MaGaS 02-21-2005 12:00 PM

Zlatko 02-21-2005 12:22 PM

Listen, im not trying to be a prick..but..why would he try to steal it?!?

hah no. We don't know why he did that. He was impaired and has a suspended license. So he probably went out possibly upset at his gf and my car was the only vehicle. Don't ask me why he went to markham. My car was in his garage in Sutton!!! Hes ed his life up hardcore. Hes going to be facing some time.

Just goes to show you can't trust anyone. My car was probably just in the wrong place at the wrong time :smilie_da

zlatko i see your point but if you really learn the mark 3s history and craftsmanship you will see that its a beast !! (except for the HG problem :P)

but yeah im sure that guy didnt bother about any history he was probably just plastered out out his mind and decided to be g*y!

supramanz if your gonna get another supra pickup a turbo you wont regret it!! theres actually a supraclub which is www.torontosupraclub.com i am a proud member (i hope this isnt advertising or anything sorry guys) you will find a lot of stuff on there and info.

Supramanz 02-21-2005 02:48 PM

yeah im Boost4Brains on there. Im going to look at a 92 turbo up north for sale. it has a new jdm motor and the HG blew on the guy so I want to pick it up and rebuild it.

Its red, targa, shadow grey int., Turbo, With the red package and mkiv style rims. Man i can't wait I know how you feel. Spring is getting close!

MaGaS 02-21-2005 03:17 PM

yeah ive seen you on the site now that you told me your nick. im "moilous"

a 1992 is a really good find! one great upgrade is the upgraded speaker enclosures to fit the 6" speakers. when you say "shadow grey" you mean charcoal/close to black?

Supramanz 02-21-2005 03:26 PM

I think ive seen a few of your posts too.

Yeah shadow grey is pretty much black. 30k on the new motor but it has a bhg. If I have to rebuild then so be it. That way ill at least no it was done right.

and I didn't know about the 6" speakers? wow. do they come with those? or aftermarket 6" can fit?

Zlatko 02-21-2005 04:01 PM

man, sorry to hear about the car either way.

Guy seems to have had a death wish of some sort..

MaGaS 02-21-2005 04:56 PM

they are factory 6" so you can pop in aftermarkets anytime you want all you have to do is take out the door panel. ive been looking for another project supra with a near-black interior if you think its too much work for you (no offence not that you cant do it) it would be helpful if you can give me a contact number for this guy.

sucks man..always hurts when ya get ripped

shuller1458 02-21-2005 07:27 PM

Just think what kind of adrenalin rush he had during persuit. My heart would blow up.

Midnight Racer 02-21-2005 07:46 PM

Sorry to hear what happened. But your new project will be a fresh start.

..77. 02-21-2005 08:13 PM

That sucks man , hope this guy wasnt a buddy of yours??. Is the car really bad or you just dont want to fix it??..77.

Supramanz 02-21-2005 08:17 PM

Yeah he must have been desparate and freaking out. being drunk probably would do that when he knew he shouldn't be driving it combined with a sus liscence. The cops told us nothing about what happened. you know they told us it just had a flat tire???? HAAHAH The guy at the tow truck place laughed at us. "Flat tire? the car is totaled." He heard it all on the scanner and told us the whole story. Cops in don't know

and yeah this will be a good project if i get it. Ill be putting a metal HG in this one so I can run high boost. I really hope i can get it.

and no i can't fix it. Its a total loss

General 02-21-2005 09:16 PM

that sucks... Is insruance goin to pay out a settlement so you can get your car redone ?

Supramanz 02-21-2005 09:29 PM

insurance paid out 5.5k. pretty good. im happy. The car was a complete write off.

General 02-21-2005 09:33 PM

what are you goin to buy now ?

Supramanz 02-21-2005 09:51 PM

thinking of buying a 92 supra T off someone. Looking at it friday. has a blown HG but i don't mind rebuilding

jdmracer 02-21-2005 11:31 PM

man that looks like it sucks ass

MaGaS 02-21-2005 11:33 PM

yeah 5.5 i would say is a good settlement

keep in mind if you want to put in a metal head gasket you gotta take out the whole engine to get it milled. since its metal to metal the surface of the block and head have to be completely flat or else it will leak.

and if your gonna do that step2 is arp head studs you canot go wrong!!!!

SuprAdam 02-21-2005 11:53 PM

^ Rebuild the entire bottom end as well. Do it yourself for less than $1000 (stock rebuild)

drifter420 02-22-2005 01:53 AM

Dood.. that really sucks..

I didn't know you're around Sutton area.. I"m not that far from you... Which shop was it that you took it too?? And wats that ers name?? Sounds like a few people that might do that I know of

Guess he went down Markham cause it's a straight nice cruise down 48.

I would be sueing the company unless it's a private party kinda thing. To have someone work on your car thats no LEGALLY suppose to be behind the wheel is bad enough.. but to do it in your clients car is another.

MaGaS 02-22-2005 09:12 AM

whats done is done he got a good settlement so i say just forget about it and look forward to the next project car!

speaking of which blackout has a good point but no way that car will be on the road this summer if you do a (pretty much) whole engine rebuild.

Well Im hoping I don't have to do that. The motor has only 30k. JDM motor he got not long ago.

I live in the newmarket area but yeah he lives in sutton. He worked at a autobody shop there i can't remember what its called. He did my car in a shop in his backyard though. But i am putting an injunction in on him for the 1700 dollars I paid.

MaGaS 02-22-2005 10:28 AM

but you gotta do what you gotta do if you are putting in a metal head gasket you gotta take out the engine anyway! might as well do it right hte first time so you have no problems later on...

what i was thinking was the cometic. Do you have to take out the block for them? I think they allow for a lot more error because they are not a full MHG and are much more crushable. I can't afford to do the bottom end right now time wise. I will be DDing this thing for the summer and hopefully will have a beater by next winter.

SuprAdam 02-22-2005 11:13 AM

^^ Cometic IS metal. But, it is more forgiving than say an HKS or greddy MHG (a.k.a multi layer metal head gasket). Standard MHG's need an RA of 0.10. I believe you can get away with 0.20 on the cometic. But....With only 30K km's on the engine, the block will be flat enough to use a regular MHG, considering it is a cast iron block, it should not warp that easily. Mine was fine anyways, just one tiny pit on it that was JB welded. But im 100% possitive you will need to get the head decked/lapped. And when you do, be SURE to get the damn valve stem seals replaced, so many people use the old ones...BAD. And double check all your valve shim clearances.

A bottom end rebuild doesnt take long....I know of a guy that can have it done in less than a week, and for an excellent price. Doing it yourself, if you know what you are doing and have all your parts ready won't take long at all.

MaGaS 02-22-2005 11:26 AM

keep in mind you cant really rely on what someone says about the engine (KM wise) until you have actually taken the head off. even then you cant be certain

for a HG to go at 30K on stock boost? im still on my stock HG and i tear this bad boy up im at 190K

scottyp 02-22-2005 11:47 AM

You can always import one :thumbsup

SuprAdam 02-22-2005 11:52 AM

ANYTHING over stock boost on a stock head gasket with Toyota's stock head bolt torque specs, and that gasket will blow in less than a week.

A stock head gasket properly torqued down has been known to handle 400+whp.

IMO, Since you will be pulling the head off anyways to do the HG, I recomend at least changing the bearings and piston rings as well. I was stupid and did not do this. Luckily, I ended up with a JDM engine that performs at 110%

That is also a VERY good idea. If I had the chance to start my car over, I would import an '89 JZA70 MK3. JZ engines > M series.

MaGaS 02-22-2005 12:22 PM

yeah blackout i have seen a few pics of a MK3 with that engine its awsome! i will post a few pics in here once i get home from work.

back to the original topic, i agree with you blackout, if the engine is already out of the car a bottom end rebuild is the best thing to do/ and more!

but even those jdm motors have the same stock specs as ours so my questions still remains that if the engine is stock why would the head gasket go at 30K. i understand if it was under more boost, but not in stock conditions.

I meant import an entire car. Money wise, its probably cheaper than finding a good condition Mk3 this side of the pond.
