Help With Swap
Hi I am posting this for a friend. He recently got a 1996 Toyota Tercel SD (2door, 5spd) for a few hundred bucks. He is interested in doing an engine swap prefferebly a turbo engine. Would u guys have any suggestions as to which engine would be best and if it would be a easy swap without to much adjusments needed to be done, Pretty much a easy simple swap but with the performance still there. I wa sthinking about a celica turbo engine or a mr2 engine but I dunno much bout toyota cars so any help from u experts out there would be highly appriciated thnx alot.

I know for a fact that Paseo engines drop right in there and work off the Tercel ECU as well...
Droping in a Celica shouldn't be that hard given that there's ample space and the mounts can be retro-fitted... Best bet would be to check out an engine at any shop and compare it to what you got under the hood...
I'm going to check if I still have any service manuals on these engines...

ok, so im obviously not a toyota guy, and I'm not sure how hard it would be to put in but I think the 3S-GTE (2.0 L DOHC turbo) out of the 90-93 Celica and 90-93 MR-2 would be an excellant choice.

if you want a turbo engine in it don't drop an mr2 engine unless you have a lot of cash. its been done but its more trouble then its worth. what your friend wants to drop in it is a 4E-FTE toyota Starlet engine. It'll drop right and is a solid engine.
just pm me if you want any more info on that swap
