Idling Problem, Help!

I own a 1993 Toyota Paseo, so far its been running real good except just today its started to mess up. Whenever the car should idle it just stalls. As soon as I stop, go to neutral or let the rpms drop too much it stalls. This has never happened before, does anyone know what might be causing it?

My friend thought it was because i needed an oil change so he did that for me. It idled fine for about 5 minutes and then the same started happening.

Someone one please help me out. Im quite pissed.

Thanks.

Idle problem and oil change is a cure? interesting idea. Gotta try it some day.

Well, did thought of bringing to the mechanic and let him look at the idle valve, may be vaqoom line is busted or it just stuck in closed position? Let him determine.

Not really, it is PCM controled. Usually step-upmotor is stuck. Needs replacement. Sometimes they are integral with throtle body, usually they are not.

My pos rainy day grand voyager has the same problem occasionally. It is probably just your idle speed motor. Look in betweem your throttle body and intake. Or the motor might be built into the throttle body itself. I you are mechanically inclined, pulling the throttle body is probably a 10 minute job, and all you need to clean the idle speed motor is some crappy tire carb cleaner and a toothbrush. don't use your girlfriends though.

even though I COMPLETELY AGREE with the vaccuum line idea... you might also want to check the tps.
