The reasoning you outline here is your own. Everyone breaks the law. Even off-duty police officers. It's simply a matter of degree.

Speeding is a regulatory infraction - not criminal - for a reason.

As for assault, by definition, both a shove and a knifing involve a violation of someones right to security of person - in that respect they are both fundamentally different from something like speeding. As for a shove being the same as a knifing, as a police officer I would hope you would have at least a passing familiarity with the criminal code here in Canada. One is assault, the other is assault with a weapon or aggravated assault, or both.

Break any law to sufficient degree and it can become criminal. At that rate, speeding can be treated as a criminal infraction - dangerous driving under the criminal code, and it should be more often than it is now.

Anyone who thinks that doing three times the speed limit in an urban setting is the same as doing 1 or even 20 over the limit is a pure rank idiot.

If the issuing officer in this case believed it to be a criminal matter, ninety5teg would be facing a criminal charge.

He's not.

No one was hurt.

Let's keep a little perspective here.

What's so f^ckin important that you have to be going 120 over the legal limit putting other peoples lives at risk???

Must have been the New Vtec Huh? F^ckin ricer.

So how long did you have to blow the cop to get him to drop the ticket.

You know the only reason he probibly didn't bother was because he didn't have you on radar and thought you'd fight it.

I went and paid for the insurance ticket..

am I lucky or what?
I can't believe anybody is even this post any sort of credibility!!! Out of the pure physics of the universe what he claims is impossible!! Why, you might ask? Because if he was going 180, then the cop would not be able to catch up to him by doing 140! In the length of road and distance travelled the cop would have had to do colser to 240 to even attempt to gain any distance, let alone catch him. That is if the undercover had already been doing 100 km/hr in the 60 km/hr zone, which is extremely unlikely. What is most plausible is that the cop was either parked or doing 60-70 km/hr, therefore for the cop to catch up to this punk the cop would have to use Nitrous Oxyide to accelerate rapidly and then have a speed of around 270-280 km/hr, which of course is also impossible.

So clearly this kid is full of ****, STUPID and IMMATURE to think this senario would make him cool, and the finally hes also F**KING RETARDED for coming up with a story that defies the fundamental physics that the universe is based on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The moral of the story is, dont speed, have insurance, but most importantly STAY IN SCHOOL SO YOU DON'T END UP LIKE THIS KID!!!!!!

I never said whether I believed the fool or not.

I was commenting on the mentality of those who suggest that it's hypocritical of people who speed at 5 or 20 over to be critical of people who speed at 120 over.

If I were you, I'd wait until you finish a few more years of school yourself, before constructing any more elaborate physics analysis. I'd suggest a reading course or two, remedial or otherwise.

The original poster did not say that he was doing 180kph from the time he passed the cruiser to the time it pulled up behind him and pulled him over. You're making flawed assumptions and trying to pass them off as fact. If he says he was doing 180kph, then you have two choices - you can take him at his word, or you can choose to disbelieve him. Regardless, since the nature of this little online community makes it impossible for it to be proven either way, if you choose the latter, kindly show a little respect when sharing that with us - or keep it to yourself.

To judge is someone else's job. Gldwngr, you of all people should know that.
