if you are over 25 or an insured driver with the same company
i.e the car owner is with kingsway and you are with kingsway you get into a accident it can be moved over to your policy

I think its fine.. My insurance company has a rule where you can let anyone outside your family drive without being on the policy. Anyone within the family has to be insured.
I drive my friends cars all the time, never touch my parents cars.

their policy may state the the driver must be 25. you need to have the policy holder check.
Otherwise, no, its not illegal providing youre borrowing it to run to the store once a week.. if they catch the person lending the car out daily, they will get screwed over.
Mind you, its the insurance inudstry, so seriously, who the hell knows what they would pull on you and your friend
