Male, 19 years old, Honda CIVIC... living in the GTA???

Not to sound crass, but 300-400 month IS cheap. Seriously.

The ONLY thing you have going for you is that you're a student. Everythying else (your age, gender, vehicle and location) is a negative insurance-wise. Some insurance companies (not sure which) will offer student discounts, as long as you can prove your grades are high and keep them there.

Hopefully, someone here can chime in as to which companies offer this.

Belair's the cheapest insurance company I've found; I'm 19 as well.

PC is stupidly expensive; for a 92 Jetta, they wanted $4800/yr to insure it.

The most I've been quoted from Belair was $3300/yr.. the cars I'm looking at range from $2800-3k.

Go to Kanetix's website; you can get a quote from 6-7 different insurance companies at once.

Yep.

Not to start any sort of online flame wars, but I'm noticing that it's girls our age that seem to be doing most of the damage, yet we pay for it.

(I don't see many teenage guys talking on the phone while driving, for example.)

Sell the Civic. That car alone is going to add a significant premium to your insurance costs. At 19 and being a student, if money is an issue your focus should be on basic transportation, not "image". Get a car that is further down on the theft and cost of repair scale. Go to insurancehotline.com and plug in the numbers for other cars, and see how the quoted costs change in relation to each car.
