when i went to my lawyer, she told me that i MUST get a lawyer because cops now show up almost 100% of the time. the reason she gave me was b/c cops get 2x the pay if they go to court, is that true or is this ****ing lawyer full bsing trying to get my money for a illegal right turn ticket?

Recent directives require cops to show up in court for their tickets unless a verifiable emergency dictates otherwise, or face reprimand if they do not.

Even when court cases are not scheduled during their regular working shifts, they must still arrange to attend and they will get paid overtime to be there.

it was at night, and the no right turn sign from 4-6pm sign wasnt very visible, 4 cars behind me all got stopped by this female cop hiding in a parking lot. it's like a 18 buck ticket, i decided to fight it, should i hire a lawyer or hire one if i fail on the first trial and appeal for a 2nd trial

For an $18 2-demerit point Disobey legal sign ticket? It would be one thing if you didn't do it and were fighting it on principle, but that's not the case here, is it? And you want to spend how much time and money fighting this?

Moron. There are no fines for $18 associated with any HTA offence related to turns or signage. If it's not an HTA or driving-related CC charge, it will not affect your insurance..

I was told the same for parking infractions.. bitches on my street complain if the car sticks 4 centimeters over the sidewalk... they call parking enforcement... idiots..

these are the same idiots who think they have rats in their pool..

That bylaw offence will not show up on your driver's abstract. If you had been charged with disobet legal sign under the HTA it would have been another matter.

SuprAdam can only hope to improve
So pay $500 for a lawyer to get off on a $18 traffic ticket. You are definetly the brightest crayon of the bunch....

The responses to these threads are hilarious.

He didn't know that a municipal bylaw infraction doens't show up on a drivers abstract, and as a result, doesn't affect your insurance. Fine. Now he knows. Why is all the name-calling and blustering necessary?

If his insurance is $100/mth, he'd be a moron not to fight anything that would affect that rate, so naturally he was concerned. As anyone who's dealt with insurance companies knows, the dollar amount of the fine has NO bearing on whether it impacts your insurance.

Nice to see we're all being so supportive guys - it's really great!
