Global TV's street racing special tonight

Apparently the street racer special starts tonight. Christina, the reporter who Tim and I were interviewed by told me it was to air on October 1st. Maybe tonight is a lead up. There was a couple of short advisories about it yesterday but I thought I'd wait to talk to Christina or at least Global but after several tries, I've had no luck.
Whatever is on tonight, it comes at the end of the six pm news I think on
Global.

It seems there will be a different aspect each night so the show could last the entire week.

When Christina interviewed us, she seemed pretty positive about what we were saying so maybe the issue is going to be treated fairly.

I only hope I haven't contributed to my own financial destruction in the process... The exploitation I can handle. Maybe I can exploit them while they are exploiting me.

Watched it and thought for once there might be a positive twist from the media on street racing.
Have to see what part 2 has for us.
One thing that caught my attention was the downsview air base idea.
Back when I found out that downsview was closing as an air base, I wrote numerous letters to different levels of government including Fantino about using the base for street/drag racing. Never got a response.
I hope maybe now things will happen.

Maybe its time we approach the city in peaceful force and rally the downsview cause? I'm all up for it. Any ideas guys? Its not hard getting people involved, just takes willing effort, and some string pulling.

I used to live down the street from that airforce base. Try to imagine how annoying it was to have to drive for an hour to Cayuga and an hour back to race on a strip that was usually so crowded you only got between 3 and 5 five runs in on a good day.

Conversely, before York University was built but after Steeles was paved as four lanes with a center median, it was a ten minute trip from Harvey's with that many runs in fifteen minutes.

No spectators, no accidents but tons of fun. It would have been more fun at the airport.

That airforce strip was 3 minutes from my front door.

Go to this site and sign up to petition for the drag strip.

The street racing story ended up on the cutting room floor.

Most of the show must have ended up on cutting room floor. Between Tim, me and Tom, we gave something like 4 hours of interviews that was somehow reduced to less than a commercial for a breakfast cereal with a lot less appeal.

The reporter and her camera man put a lot of effort into the show but the good stuff was all cut.

Since we're on the topic now....who else is up for actually looking into the Downsview Strip idea?...Elections are just around the corner again, I couldn't think of a better time. People please, lets actually do something in a fair amount of representable force and get the ball rolling.
PM me please if you would be serious into investigating this further, I have a fair amount of experience with working in the government and the issues surrounding local politics. On top of that I know quite a few people that would be able to help the cause.
If you need a hand Gully I would be more then happy to give you a experienced hand!

Count me in.
I don't live in near that area anymore but that is something that I always wanted to see.
I would even volunteer my time to help run it.

Dimitri is an unknown quantity at this point
The Downsview idea is nice....BUT...more than likely it'll get shot down due to the fact that whoever assumes responsibility will also assume a huge insurance hike. Years ago when they had the whole ordeal when they thought that Buttonville airport was going to get shut down, the idea of a track was brought up. Aparently through conversations with my city councillor (at that time) the insurance premium would be so high that nobody in their right mind would touch it.

Peronsally I'd say thats a small price to pay for safety and this stupid street racing bs they've contructed...we pay useless social workers more, and city council gives themselves raises? I think we have got a good shot at it. Just takes time and effort.
